Why is it on at 11 am anyway, I would've gone this game but that very early start leaves me unable to attend. Its going to be a great game of rugby. Thats the earliest start to a reserve game or indeed an academy game I have heard of this season..

Its mentioned earlier in the thread why it is so early!
Stewards are needed for the latics game later on.

| Wigan with seven U18 qualified academy players won 22 - 16 against a Saints side that included Dean, Wheeler, Ellis, Armstrong, Dixon and Ashurst..
If Wheeler is Saints future number six than I would say they are in big trouble.
I am sure Bilkos report will soon be up.
Joe Mellor was superb for Wigan as were John Walker, Sam Gee and Ben Davies.

Do you believe Mellor can step up to SL Rogues ?
Or is this his level ?

I am not sure, but he has frightening pace. He is one of the players who still qualifies at U18.
He has certainly come on this season since Sam got promoted.
However he is very slight of build, even more so than Sam. He completely overplayed Ellis today.

John Walker.

Yes, fullback and then to when Ian Thornley went off.
I'm not sure if Thornley was injured or whether he is playing tomorrow.

Don't you have to use the same stadium as the first team play at? Is the Stobart Stadium not available to use?

The Final has to be at the main teams home ground which is the DW or it is played at the other finalists Home ground.

Not true.
The game will be played at the home ground of the Superleague team. Unfortunately that means that Wigan reserves will have to forfeit home advantage as Wigan Athletic are at home to Chelsea.
That means that Wigan will have to go to Saints or Leeds.
The same rule also applies in the U18 academy comp.

Leeds beat Bradford 46 - 26 at Odsal today, so they will play Saints at KR next week.
If Leeds win that I wonder what will happen if Leeds RU and / or the cricket are at home in a fortnight?
I think we should play the final at Leigh Sports Village, after all it is in the Borough of Wigan.

So a possible homegrown partner for Sam, excellent if we could get it to happen, an even slighter build than Tomkins but then again some were worried for Sam that he wasn't bulky enough but he's proved them wrong this season. Plus with Mellor being under 18 he's still got time to bulk up and improve than were he a 20 year old.
A big well done to the reserves.

| To me the u21 grand final should be played on a nuetral venue anyway.
Could they not play it before the National League Grand Final? That would be on a nuetral venue and would be played infront of a good crowd for the young lads. It would also ensure a bigger crowd for the national league game if a few fans of the two u21 sides went along.

You obviously didn't go today.
It meant a lot to those players, you could see by their effort and determination to get to the final.
