| Quote ="NickyKiss"I watched an interview in the week with Tommy Makinson, who was saying how relaxed everyone was in the build up to Good Friday and that it comes from Wellens, who he said is a laid back character and is really relaxed himself. It sounded a bit of a world away from how I’d imagine Woolf being described, especially after watching Wellens himself commenting how intense he was in a recent podcast. No two coaches are the same but Woolf clearly focussed hugely on those effort areas. If you start to see a crack in some of that work, you’re a real chance against them.'"
This is what I posted on Red Vee earlier in the week
My only worry is if he’s capable of being detached enough from them to be ruthless. He’s been there for years and played for years with the likes of Lomax, Makinson, Roby and Walmsley.
I can’t imagine Woolf being worried about administering bollockings or saying a few home truths.
I’ve noticed on the pics from last night WCC celebrations that the players were all in different suits. Woolf would’ve had them all in matching club suits with club ties. I think it’s little things like that which matter. It’s setting standards and my concern is if these are being eroded slightly.
These next few games will give us the answer. We are more than capable of beating Wigan and Warrington, of course we are but we have to start returning to the levels we know of.

I’m not naïve enough to think Saints won’t be right there at the business end but it was an interesting comment from Makinson. That podcast with Wellens highlighted how intense Woolf was and how high his standards were. There clearly is a hangover from that WCC win/trip and while that won’t last forever, it feels like it probably wouldn’t have been allowed to happen in the first place with Woolf at the helm.

Of course you are capable on beating Wigan and Warrington on the day and so is anyone else on their day but as it happens St Helens was not capable yesterday and that is a fact and not a "if he would have done this or passed the ball or put it down reason they lost excuse"

| It's going to be interesting to see how Wellens and Saints go this year.
The last 3 years of their success has been built on 100% intensity, first and foremost, then the skill to execute. Reduce the intensity by a few % and the better teams will exploit the small cracks that appear.
Not writing Saints off, but possibly they are coming closer to the pack containing the next 2 or 3 sides.

I always thought Woolf was capable of giving his mother in law a few home truths if needs be not sure Wellens has that in him.

Just rewatching the game and it's a bad one from Knowles, textbook hip drop tackle, holding onto Coopers shoulder and dropping his full weight. Be stunned if he doesn't sit a few games out.

Since when has it been against the rules to use your weight to tackle someone? Don’t see how there’s anything wrong with holding someone’s shoulder and using your weight to get them down. Sounds like a tackle to me?

To be honest only the second time I had noticed him, first time he got mullered by Joe and dropped the ball.

| Genuinely never heard that as a rule before, when I watched it back I was looking to see if someone attacked his knee etc, thought it was fine but obviously unfortunate

| Using your weight is fine, its dropping your full weight so you're not in control of the tackle. I don't think it was malicious but it was poor technique that resulted in an injury.

That's an easy one to answer, since the rules changed.

Absolutely. We had a player done for that type of tackle last season but who it was escapes me. I don’t they they injured the player either.

Didn't we have Ben Flower or Tony Clubb done for it too a few seasons back? I think the rule has been around for a while.

| It might be that I’m thinking of actually. It’ll be interesting to see if anything comes of this one. We’ve lost a player for a while by the looks of things.

Player statistics from GF.'"
Well looking at the stats surely Wigan lost,I was there but obviously was watching a different game as according to the stats Wigan was second best on most of them.
I know stats dont lie but I am sure Wigan won, score board said,3rd time watching it the score was the same as before.
Anyway a most enjoyable afternoon,I wasnt that far out with a 12point win to Wigan.
Roll on Friday at the Wire, should be interesting.
