Andy Coley is very underrated IMO and there are plenty of overrated players in Super League.

No disrespect to Salford but I often think opposition fans in particular have this pre-conceived idea about him that he simply is an average prop and was the best of a bad bunch at Salford. This is were he spent the majority of his Super League life. I think this way of thinking has followed him to Wigan and yet his form in 2009 and particularly last year has deserved higher plaudits and more recognition.

For me, our best prop in 2010.

I hope this thread is a wind up because if it is not then I just don't understand threads like this - we won the GF last year - we are joint top this year (with a game in hand) and still player get slagged off. Go figure!

For mine Coley has done a very good job for the team in the last two seasons - even this year he has still done a solid if unspectacular - what more do we need? All champion teams have the grafters, if he is a plodder then let us hope we can find another plodder when he finishes.

not really, unless im reading everything wrong, it seems the opposite, people are raving about ratchford

Couldnt agree more, the dominant Melbourne team had 4 props who were grafters (exception with Blair switching to prop)

Not slagging Fielden off as he was pretty solid last season, but to say he was sensational is OTT.

I said some of his performances were sensational - Hull and Huddersfield at home and Leeds away to name a few. Overall however I'd still rate his year as more than solid.

Everything he does is damaging. Whilst he has not hit the form of last year he has still been very good for us. The St George game he took the best pack in club rugby on, on his own and held his own.

Massively impressed with him in that game, he was outstanding.

I'd describe him as an "unsung hero".

From Wigan players Stevo will always choose Paddy, Sam, Tommy or Lockers for MOTM and I'm not suggesting that these players are undeserving as they are all consistently good for us but I've sometimes thought other players have been as deserving or more deserving in certain matches. Andy Coley has been one of those. George Carmont another.

what a load of rubbish this thread is! Andy coley has not got a lot of fans and I cant understand why. I agree he is not spectacular, but he has been over the last 4 years a lot more consistent than any of our current props. He is an out an out work horse who every now and again has a blinder. He was outstanding in the St George game, a real leader on the pitch. Unfortunately I think his ageing body is preventing him from putting in that sort of performance week in week out howver he still remains solid.

Madge obviously rates him as Coley has never been dropped from the team whilst Magde has been in charge and most of the time Coley is in the starting 13. I prefer Madges opinion on the players than some strange opinions of them on here.

Coley has been a good signing for Wigan .

jesus wept!! Coley is great player - cant believe people think otherwise. Coley works hard every game, is a great leader and appears to have cut out the silly penalties and errors from his game. Some of his tackles are immense - real bone crunchers. We will miss this lad when he retires.

Coley might not be playing as well as he did last season but that's understandable due to his age. He's still the most consistent prop we have and whilst he might take a back seat sometimes this year he's still doing what needs to be done.
Prescott and Mossop may have performed better than him overall this year but that's down to their own improvement as much as anything else.
He's still capable of putting in some excellent performances and is a real asset to the club. Sometimes a player who will perform steady and have a few good games is better than having a player who is inconsistent.

What's that saying? Props win pots?

I think the thread has proved he's got plenty of fans and is very highly rated by the majority. He gets the job done and when the big games come round is at his best.

Coley is imense, works hard & puts the tackles in. The only negative I have is he could run the ball in harder but would use more energy which would have a negative effect on his game plan.

Coley is the type of grafter who gets you into the right positions time after time after time, which then sets a platform for our flashy attackers to do their stuff.

We'll realise what an important player he is for us when he isn't here. I do wonder sometimes what game some people have been to, as it isn't the same one I go to.

Hes the opposite of Rathford. People think hes worse than he is assuming hes the "best of a bad bunch" from Salford whereas Ratchford probably is that yet people are raving about him. Go figure ey?

You only have to look at what Myler has done since joining Warrington to see that he, and ratchford, stand out at salford but dont at a better team. No disrespect to Salford intended. And apologies for the minor Wire compliment...
