Isn't the USA movement posited on the killing of black men by the police, and the migration of the movement into this country based on same suggested racist and disproportionate use of force/violence/killing of black men in this country. I don't think either the statistics or the actual substance of the protest is as uncontentious as you make out, irrespective of the abolishing capitalism and the nuclear family stuff. The hypocrisy will be by players who now conform but wont when fans are in the ground.
Like it or not what you see at football grounds in the form of racism will continue and you cant stop fans booing and jeering.
This BLM movement having made a point would be better especially in London helping the Police combat Black crime rather than adding to their workload
In order to nip this in the bud the sports authorities should advise all players that when fans are back in stadiums not to take the knee

Funnily enough I can! Last game at Knowsley Road my mate, who is Asian, joined our usual group to experience the derby. Before the game we went to the Olde England pub in St Helens. Some idiot at the bar looked him up and down and said "You're not from round here are you?" and his idiot mates laughed along as though it was hilarious that an Asian would want to come to a rugby game. Upshot was a big argument that would have spilled over into a fight if we hadn't left, my mate felt terrible about the fuss and unwelcome/awkward because of his skin colour so didn't come to another game. I'm sure you will say "That's life" but to me it's totally unacceptable and needs stamping out.

That example would have happened had they overheard his accent as being Scottish, Southern, Welsh, Irish, German, etc. I had that happen to me lots of times in Liverpool working there in peoples houses. I've been told 'You're not from round here' by Scousers. Thing is, if someone wants to offend you they'll find a way. So because 1 person said something that might be perceived as ignorant or as casual racism or however you want to bracket it, that we as a country as infinitely racist and all must change?
