| Its heartbreakingly sad. What a waste of a young life.
It may only be a small comfort to his family and friends at such a difficult time but all Wigan fans will treasure great memories of Terry in the famous Cherry and White.
RIP Terry

| Quote ="nathancroucher"My thoughts are with Terry's family and friends. He provided us with so many wonderful moments for Wigan and Great Britain. He lived and breathed Rugby League and it is a massive shame it has come to this. He was often quite hot headed but you can't deny he was a passionate character and passion is what makes the sport so great. The image of him crying shall remain an iconic image and shows his love of the club.'"
I agree, and can't get this vision out of my head and now coupled with Saturday's game to come, this Grand Final is for him, he was a player who excited me watching him, a player who wore his heart on his sleeve every single game, Terry, you will be missed.

| Probably the same rectums who ruined the tribute thread to the young lad who was murdered in hindley earlier in the year. Its probably one account user with multiple accounts, I would bet my life they wouldn't come out at old trafford on saturday to be named and shamed. They keep referring to Terry as a Kiwi so chances are they aren't even british.
Well its probably about 18 hours now since the news broke, I don't feel any better than I did when I first read it with disbelief.
I had only watched the Brian Carney interview on Thursday night and feeling quite reflective after watching it, thinking that Terry seemed to be a shadow of his former self; still clearly cut up about the death of his sister.
Last May, I received a phone call that every family dreads to receive. The call described an identical tragedy to what happened yesterday. The days and months that followed were a mass of "why's", "what ifs" lots of unanswered questions that we will probably never find the answers to. Intrusive legal proceedings that made you feel like you were somehow to blame. Explaining to my four year old niece that her daddy wouldn't be coming back wasn't even the hardest part. It was the sheer helplessness in understanding and accepting that someone could be so alone at the end of their life, thinking that this was the only way out.
Mental Health is a taboo subject in our society, it isn't talked about and it isn't the done thing to admit that we are struggling to cope with our emotions. Why? we wouldn't hesitate in sharing pain of a broken leg. The one positive thing I hope can come out of all this is that people start to talk about how they are feeling.
Sleep tight Terry lad, whatever demons were haunting you can't hurt you anymore.
Sending positive thoughts, prayers and lots of love to Terry's family and friends and special thoughts to his two little girls.
You will always be a warrior Tez, R.I.P

Having been through something similar myself with a very close relative this post is perfectly put and sums exactly how I am feeling right now.
In situations like this what I hate most is the insensiveness of the press. There is absoloutly nothing to write about or indeed speculate about, leave the family alone, it will be a big enough struggle for them as it is.

| i completely agree with all the lovely comments about this shocking news however he did play for bradford and leeds too remember. although us wigan fans never wanted tez to leave the club he moved on and whether he still had loyalties to wigan after he left, i don't think the squad should feel any differently towards the game on saturday.
to sum up, the whole of the rugby league world should dedicate the next match to tez and rightly so. whoever wins on saturday it will be in memory of tez.
tez, i remember bumping into you in the lock and key centre in orrell a few years back when my hand was in plaster and i couldn't shake your hand. i wished you well for the forthcoming season (still at wigan then) and he laughed and said i'd shake you hand but think i best not...
top bloke and such a shame. massive sympaties and respect go out to his family and friends. the whole of the rugby league world and even the rest of the sporting world will judge this a massive loss of life and to the game, on and off the pitch.
rip.

| I'm still stunned by this news. It was heartbreaking having to watch Brian Carney and co yesterday and I can't believe he was only 31. A great player to have on your side and a true Wiganer. Thoughts are with his family, especially his two little girls, at what must be an unspeakably awful time.

| I'm shocked. Only just got the news via an email.
A great player and a true rugby league charachter.
Who ever wins on Saturday lets hope both clubs on and off the field are dignified and pay the greatest respects to Terry and his family.
RIP Terry

| There really are some complete losers and tosspots out there. I hope his family don't see that facebook page !
Human nature really lets me down at times ! I hope the owner removes all the disgraceful photos. Bunch of idiots.
Having seen that I would suggest that Wigan players wear black armbands as unfortunatley a mass show of respect would be impossible and would probably result in a few flare ups in the crowd. Shame !

Rightly or wrongly I would think that Terry Newton saw no other way out. It is frightening to think what we are capable of when we become desperate. I just feel so sorry for his family and especially his children. I do hope they can find some comfort in the kind things being said about him.

| we can all count ourselves fortunate that we have never been in such a dark and lonely place as Terry obviously was, he was no angel, but he obviously had some real problems, and I can't help in thinking the game let him down.
RIP Terry, and sincere condolences to those he left behind.

| The thing i cant help thinking is that if Millward had not wanted to get Higham to the club Terry would still have been at Wigan and this would never have happened as he would have been given time to recover with no pressure. I once lost a good friend to depression so know just what his family and friends are going through.
