| IL language is a little dissapointing, it's like he has just read the stats and knows nothing of the man. Good in defence (tackles made/missed ratio), good strike rate and not missed many games.
Is this managment by speadsheet? On the otherhand, does this suggest that the coach maybe allowed to get on with his job by a manager who accepts his lack of technical skills?

Sorry, but what do you expect in a press release - a detailed breakdown of all George's strengths and weaknesses? What could he say that would be more accurate and concise than "he has performed consistently well for us"?

So you assume that is all the thought and consideration IL put into this based based on a paragraph in the press release?
Given the way the deal is structured it seems to me a great deal of thought has been put into this deal.
It is ideal IMO and IL should be complimented on putting together a deal that doesn't tie us to holding onto a player if things don't work out but gives us the breathing space to get the likely replacements up to speed and decide which ones are going to get his shirt eventually.
How on earth you can even consider he knows nothing of the man is beyond me.
I don't always agree with how IL goes about things but he seems to have got this one bang on. I fail to see the down side.

Did you switch into must find fault mode for that post?
They are called press releases!

No thanks!
According to Wane on the radio program a couple of weeks back he had a new deal agreed for next year so your wish may have been granted already but while I am very happy for Goerge to sign this deal I would not be on here singing IL's praises if we have indeed re-signed Bailey.
Why?
[listWe didn't miss him when he has been out injured IMO
We have young players much more ready to step into the back row than to replace him than we do in the centres to replace Carmont
He has a serious Achilles injury. [/list:u
The usual argument to keep him on is he is good talker and a great pro off the field. I have no doubt he is but as a player I don't think he offers enough when we have Mossop ready and Farrell waiting in the wings.
If the club think he has the attributes to be a coach and it isn't just a case of "jobs for boys" then him being employed as a coach would be fine.

| Very pleasing result there and the contract is laid out in the right way so it benefits all involved, great stuff.
Now for a prop or two.

James Graham and Ryan Bailey would be good if Fielden goes to Celtic

I agree it's a good signing, but it's the kind of drivel that's rolled out around review time when it's clear the manager knows nothing about the person being reviewed. I'm sure with a little more effort he could have said something more positive - how about one of the best centres in the SL for example.

Well now that Nobby won't be taking Carmont down to Wales with him let's hope he switches his attention to taking Fielden instead.
Anybody know anything about a Saints junior coming to us, read something about it on redvee but there being very cagey with information.

'Conclusion', 'ludicrous' and 'leap to' are four words that spring to mind.
Do you think perhaps you'd be a better person to judge?
Have you seen Carmont play more often than IL? Were you involved in the scouting mission that uncovered him? Did you do the due diligence before he was signed? Do you have access to his medical records, his family affairs, his personal ambitions and feelings? What do your day-to-day discussions with Carmont reveal to you about his personality? Hell, what do your day-to-day discussions with Lenagan tell you about his? Or do you genuinely believe that the occasional quote given in a press release is more than enough to form an accurate picture? Think more carefully before you answer that one than you did before making your previous two posts.

I think it will be for the players above a certain age but in regards for all members of the squad I don't think it's a practice we'll role out club wide.
I think the players he sees as key to our long term goals i.e. Lockers, Sam, Pat, Prescott, Joel & Tommy will all get three + year deals. Tommy and Pat have already signed such deals under IL and Sam has signed a four year one as well.
It’s defiantly the way forward we keep the good young core of our squad together and the very few players we have on our books who are 30+ are kept on deals which are good for the club.
Every year that passes under IL guidance you get the sense that he’s trying to level the wage structure at the club and moving away from the top heavy structure we had in place under MO.

| We can all rest abit easier now Carmont has signed. I had visions of this running on and on for a good couple of months and that would have been a real nail biting time because we need the guy. He's been a superb signing for us and is a leader aswell as a good player. The partnership he's built up with Richards(or Ainscough aswell to be fair) has been special and it's great to know that can continue.
As for Phil Bailey i'd also let him leave and use his cap space incase any players of note become available. I suppose we'd always have the option of signing him up somewhere down the line if needs be because i can't see any other clubs touching him until he's over this injury.

I'd let him leave as well.
If we sign a new prop and are unsure of how some of our youngsters like Farrell or Mossop will go in the 2nd row Coley can always fill in there for next season.
It doesn't make sense to re sign Phil Bailey. If we need another old head then let’s sign a prop with those qualities then even if it's for one year instead of resigning Bailey.

| Carmonts deal (regarding appearances) may be tied in with how he recovers from the shoulder injury he has been carrying this year, I heard it requires surgery. I expect a similar deal with Bailey.
