It matters to me because its a kick in the teeth to Wigan RL that the person who said we cant play in the stadium last year is now having his named plastered all across our 'home' games. We have become to Whelen someone who just gives him abit of pocket money and if Latics were to get european football i do believe we will be out on our arris. Lease or no lease.

The mods have of course decided that it doesn't matter what the stadium is called. These are the same mods that decided that Dave Whelan was not fit to burn when he booted us out just six months ago.

Now far be it for me to suggest that we're all expected to simply follow in line to what our dear leaders say, but I really cannot believe that you could feel so strongly about the way we were treated, and then just shrug your shoulders when the same man puts his initials on our ground!

As I said in a previous thread, this is as offensive to many Wigan supporters as it would be to Latics fans if we called the ground 'Central Park'. Sorry if you don't feel that way, but many of us do, given recent events.

What an absolute idiot, stadiums should be named after someone for being a legend but he is no legend, he is just sad, I really feel sorry for him.

There were 3 other much better options-

1. Name it Robin Park, its easy, good name, it would catch on as most people call the area Robin Park due to the retail park, for example if I am catching the bus round there I would say to someone on the phone I am near Robin Park.

2. Get a sponsor for the stadium and at least make some money from it.

3. Name it after some actual legends of Wigan or name individual stands or something. The Dean Bell end has a nice ring to it

The point of the first one is having a name everyone would recognise and probably use.

He would get alot more money if he had got hyundai in on the deal.
