The answer would seem to be yes.
But...criticism of Pryce this season actually started in pre-season with one poster in particular criticizing Karl Pryce because he had not been working hard enough in training. Apparently during an exercise routine at Haigh Hall Karl Pryce came next to last in a run involving all of the players and as a result he was deemed to be lazy which i found quite ridiculous.
I thought Pryce did ok in the Huddersfield game and took his opportunity when it presented itself, i do hope that the try will help to develop his confidence and that he does get another chance against Widnes at the weekend.
Its time to get behind all the players....including Karl Pryce.

I am always wary of calls to get behind the players (as opposed to the team, an important difference) because there are some who think the players can do no wrong so make this call regardless of how good or bad they are playing individually or as a team. I think it's much better to take each player as they come if we want to talk individual performances and call a spade a spade.
EDIT I shoud also add come game day I don't care who is on the pitch they always have my full support whatever my opinions are of them in general.
With that in mind I agree with what you are saying about Pryce. I can't see what he did wrong given his experience (i.e lack of) and he took his try well.
I also remember the pre-season run post and while you can't say it was a positive thing to be trailing in last it was no reason to assume that was the end of his Wigan career.

| In my opinion Pryce didnt do much wrong in the hudds match and made the most of chances when they arose, it seems that whenever he makes a mistake (as every player in the team does) it is emphasised by the fans, surely this cant do his confidence much good. Sometimes he does seem uninterested and a lazy but i suspect he has lost a lot of confidence and enthusiasm due to numerous aspects (i.e. injuries, fans). I really hope he gets a good run of games, and does play well as he has all the attributes to be a brilliant player, i just wish he would realise that.

| The way we as fans treat certain players is a disgrace.the best players in the world play with complete confidence in their own abilty which allows them to sometimes try the things that other players wouldn't dare, this is what puts them at the top of their game.i'm not saying that price could be one of the best but at the rate people slag him on here I'm suprised the bloke can even catch a ball.get behind your team and leave the slagging for the stains

Agreed, but it wasn't as many as usual, and Pryce got quite a bit of encouragement from the fans tonight. I thought he had a decent game, better than last week, but still work in progress. He deserves to keep his place,

Spot on. Reading many of these comments, doesn't look interested, lazy etc reminds me of the same things being said about Amos last year. If the bloke gets a chance to have a decent run in the team, 10 games or so judge him then.

Until Amos comes back at least. He's more than pulled his weight in his two starts so far. Be interesting to know what the coach thinks of his contributions.

I couldnt believe the lad behind me tonight who kept slagging him off. It was disgraceful the way Mathers was ruined by our fans abuse and it looks like Pryce is the next victim.

| I thought Donkey had a decent game tonight.
Solid in defence (couple of good takes from kicks), broke a tackle, made some yards and scored a hat-trick.
Couldn't really fault him at all today and I hope he continues to improve. With some more work, he could become a useful player for Wigan.
Well played Karl.
(And before anyone whines about me referring to him as "Donkey", that name will stick as far as I'm concerned - Just like Pat got the nickname of "shït-boy" during his first season, and still gets referred to as that in an ironic way)

| He's getting better each week and seems to be growing in confidence. He took the ball up a lot more today.
It would be interesting to see how he gets on with a decent run in the side ala Goulding.

Nobody except me and a couple of other friends who go to the match.
That's the point, numb-nuts - It's a private joke and will remain a running joke.
Try looking up the word "irony", it may help.

| You should probably have kept the joke private I feel.
I thought Pryce did well tonight. As others have already noted, I heard a few slagging him off after the match. Some of them were just racist idiots so their opinion can be discounted I guess.
His tries may have been walk-ins but as other have said he came inside and looked for work at times. I thought he made a good contribution on the whole.

I'm beginning to feel the same, TBH. It was just an attempt to head off the various morons who would read my post referring to him as Donkey and assume that I'm some kind of "boo-boy".
Anyway, I'm too tired and can't be ársed justifying myself any longer - If you want to think of me as "a muppet" (which coming from CAM actually brought a laugh to my lips), that's fine. I've been called worse by better.
Back on topic, as you point out, he did OK today, and as I've said previously, he must be doing something right in training for Madge to think that he (finally) warrants a place in the team.
He's just so bloody infuriating. He seems to have the size and the natural ability to be a damned good player, but looks to all intents and purposes like he just can't be bothered most of the time.
His tries weren't the hardest to score by any stretch, but he was at least there and available to score them.
As for the "racist idiots" - Fortunately, neither myself nor my daughter heard anything along those lines. I can't imagine how I'd explain racism to a 6-year old.
It's going to be interesting in a fortnight or so though, to see whether Pryce will be happy to drop back down to the U20's once Amos is back. Let's be honest - He's improved, but he's still not ready to grab the spot of Pat/Amos/Goulding.

as fans we have two options,
1,you can continue to slate a player obviously lacking in convidence(not suprising after all the injuries and grief he gets)and only get 50% out of the guy whilst still paying him the wage or
2,get behind the guy, support him, cheer for him.and maybe just maybe the guy may take to the field without that extra weight on his shoulders and actually show us what he can do.after all he wears the cherry and white and he does so because eminem and shaun wane beleave he is good enough, that alone is good enough for me.imagine a player walking out of the dressing room knowing that everything he can do in the next 80 minutes will make the crowd cheer him, that as got to be worth an extra 50% in performance every time
