But they'd much sooner win the GF. Ask Leeds and Saints in 2007 and 2008 which they'd have preferred.

At the end of the day it will get people into the club shop on Saturday Afternoon. It costs Wigan hardly anything to do it and the club will make a few quid from it as people will purchase merchandise from the shop as they queue.

Fair play to them, might take my two lads along. They're in their first proper season watching Wigan and having never seen the club win any kind of silverware they are buzzing that Wigan have won a trophy!

It's little things like that which will get them hooked for life* regardless of how crappy looking it may be.

* Similarly for me - I started watching Wigan in 1982 and was over the moon when we won the JPS Trophy in 83.

agreed, my lad is 11 and i cant wait to see him at the end of the game on Friday, the look on his face when he gets to have his picture taken with the silverware he saw his hero's holding up the night before will be priceless!!

Is presenting the hubcap after your game on friday a new tactic by the Wigan club to keep you lot in the stadium til the end of the game for once??

Well done on winning it but it doesn't come close to that big Cup, only 5 games yet so many can't do it.

It's harder to win the hub cap than CC that's a fact.

Win 22 games vs winning 5 is a clear indication of this.

The CC and hub cap are on par IMO and more recognition needs to be given 2 the hub cap.

though with the challenge cup theres no second chance, though i do believe that the league leaders should be a bigger deal as it should reward the consistancy needed to perform well for a large majority of the games played

Its the hardest piece of silver to win in the game, end of.

I think the old championship trophy should be given to the champions. The current Super League trophy should be given to the team that wins the league.

I'm very proud of the club winning the hubcap but I shan't be having my photo taken with it as I am not 9 years old.

On the contrary. Winning the league is the greatest achievement of the three now that all teams play all others home and away (with the exception of millennium magic). The cup comes down to the luck of the draw and the 'Old Trafford' jamboree is basically a marketing ploy to sustain interest to the bitter end and favouring the late finishers and the least depleted squads. I for one will celebrate the most worthy of the three trophies.

I'm also very proud of my club proving that they are THE BEST TEAM IN THE COMPETITION.

And I (39) *WILL* be going along, with my youngest daughter (7), as I would like to add it to the pictures that I have of me and my eldest daughter holding the Superleague and CC trophies.

Anyone who chooses to be embarassed by the fact that our club chooses to let the fans see/hold the trophy that you win for consistently being the best team, all year (not just for 4 or 5 matches in the case of both the GF & CC), can just stay away and let the rest of us enjoy it.

IMO its a trophy. I'll be celebrating winning it. If we dont get to or win at OT then we've still won something, tin pot trophy or not, its something to prove we've been the best over the season. if we have a bad game in the final then thats it. but we still have something to show for our season. no matter how small (or as SKY see it, worthless) it may be

Your point doesn't make sense however.

To win the hub cap this season we had to win 21 out of the 27 games. The league table was such that if we'd won 18 Saints would be top. It's quite simple really and no one will ever have to win the full 27.

i had my picture with the GF when we won it, with the CC when we won it .. GOD DAMMIT I'M HAVING ONE WITH THE HUB CAP TOO.
