Shame Rogues is overseas as he usually winds them up beautifully on there. It’s been an ideal season in a lot of ways for me. I don’t want a weak St Helens but I also don’t want them winning anything of note. They’ve been a little shell shocked for a number of years now about how poor they’d become and the old boastful posts about how easy everything was had become few and far between. It was back with a bang this year but everything has collapsed around their ears.

In truth they look strong again next year and will be thereabouts again but this season will have really hurt.

Jesus, there are some absolute morons on that site. Do some of them actually read what they write and consider how it looks to any sane, rational human being?

I love how some say they’d stop watching the game if they played like Wigan yet they’ve been watching a KFC coached St Helens side until this season. I presume they sat with their hands over their eyes under Brown in 2014 as well, especially in the Grand Final when they scraped a win with two awful try’s against a 12 man Wigan side.

It’s as sad as the two buffoons on Red Vee TV saying they won’t be watching the Grand Final. How bitter can you get? I’ve been to every Grand Final bar one and we had our tickets for Saturday a couple of weeks back. As a rugby league fan it’s a great night and the highlight of the season, regardless of who is in it.

That website is an embarrassment. Always has been. Not one single poster has any humilty. We could lose 88-0 and according to that website it would be the refs fault.

That is truly one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen online.

Do they really believe that hiding on their own little forum will mean that their tantrums go unnoticed?

Do they really imagine that the 'we're the best but no-one else seems to realise it' argument will have cut-though anywhere outside the St Alex and St Ray School for the Chronically Deluded?

Did they really think that hiring a mercenary for one season - a mercenary whose commitment proved to be even flimsier than everyone told them it would be - meant they had acquired the rights to the championship?

Do they really believe that chucking the ball around like a set of basketball players means you will always have some kind of moral victory, even though RL requires much, much more of you - like physical toughness, a willingness to tackle, a willingness to stand up for each other, an ability to grind it out against the tough teams rather than simply showboating against the little guys?

Do they really think they've ever earned the self-appointed title of 'Entertainers'? Even in the heyday or Long and Sculthorpe, they didn't come close to matching the greatest and most exciting RL team in British history, which we put on the field only a handful of years earlier (at a time when all they could muster in response was Shane Cooper with a mullet).

One look at that farce of a forum reminds me why I follow one of the greatest RL clubs in the world and why they will always come a very, very poor second.

Several on there saying they would stop watching rather than support a team that would 'cheat to win' (sic). Surely they stopped watching after Tommy Martyn's 'Foot of God" or Chris Joynt's voluntary tackle then? Oh sorry, I forgot. It's only cheating if other teams do it, isn't it...

Saints fans have often dealt with unexpected defeats by seeking a mysterious moral high ground.

Anyone remember their ridiculous search for the little girl in the crowd who Gareth Hock 'deliberately threw the ball at' after they'd suffered another Good Friday hammering?

But any quest to cast their club as the epicentre of grace and virtue failed years ago in my book, when St Helens responded to the betting scandal by getting rid of Martin Gleeson but hanging onto main offender (and much better player), Sean Long.

Cut um some slack there in pain just didn't see it coming poor lot

They did even better this year,
1) when some Saints fans tied to goad the Wire players which was c;ear;y seen on SKY it was the wire players fault for targeting a Saints player in the tackle, and the other explanation was that these heroes went to the aid of the cheerleaders that were near the incident

Sky's commentary interpretation was a disgrace (just watched it). Lineham should have been sin-binned at least. Childs was not helped by his partially sighted linesman who missed almost everything for most of the game.

What exactly did the fan do to warrant any action apart from 'comment' to a Warrington player he barely touched him. If he upset BMM then suites me because a minute later BMM gives the penalty away.

The situation was completely caused by the actions of the Warrington players who had an agenda throughout the game.

2) after getting ripped a new one by catalans, they were asking fans to get in touch with the RL and complain that Kenny Edwards had thrown a ball nearly decapitating one of their fans

There's poster on there that pointed out Saints had only won one trophy in the last ten seasons.
I didn't know that until reading it but no wonder they are unhappy.

And the trophy they won they were very fortunate scraping home against you lot with 12 men for 75 minutes. Its really been pretty much nothing but pain since 2008 for them, 5 straight GF losses, no CC win since then not even a final and this year must be tipping them over the edge after people (mainly the SKY team) were giving them the treble already at easter yet they fall in the two semis.

Like someone else said, they do look strong again next year, but like Cas have some big mental hurdles to overcome and the scars left on them from this season will take some healing.

Unfortunately the idiots tend to be the loudest keyboard warriors. A minority of St Helens fans fall into that category, as do a minority of Wigan fans and every other club for that matter.

Our turn for disappointment will come whether that be next Saturday, next season or some time in the future. When it does there will be a similar thread to this on redvee.

It's the self righteousness that's truly breathtaking.
Now to be fair they played some great stuff in the first half of the season but in the second half they've been bang average, lucky for them they had enough points in the bag to claim the LLS.
The way they talk you'd think their first choice 17 was the greatest team ever and they've been cruelly robbed by some great RFL conspiracy.
Personal opinion but that mob would get destroyed by their Sculthorpe era team.

You do need to understand their predicament, firstly as a daily practice they have to pretend they are not plastic scousers, then when they go to work on Monday the real scousers will laugh at them, for those who go to work in Wigan or Warrington, well it's the same outcome. Let them have their therapy.

Work? Shit, most of them live the warrington side of the border, that's why the traffic is always bad trying to make a relatively short journey there and back.

The Wigan/Saints/Bradford sides of the early 00s would walk the league now IMO.
