| Wane coaches that group of players and we make the last 3 at least.
Under Lam we aren't making the playoffs.

Wane or any other coach wouldn’t want to take charge at the moment.
We hit the ice berg about 4 months ago.

| I want Lam out as much as anyone but are we really wanting to go back to a coach we’ve had before when it’s clear that we need fresh eyes and fresh ideas? I was one of those who was happy for Wane to leave. I felt we were going stale and needed a fresh approach. I don’t think we should look back, especially so soon. The obsession of bringing back ex employees is bizarre.
Don’t get me wrong I’d be happy until the end of the season but I don’t believe Wane is who we want permanently. For me it’s Shane Flanagan/Brian Mac all day long.

| Wane till the end of the season gives us a chance of making the Grand Final IMO. I agree with others that after that I'd prefer someone new with no previous connection to the club, but for now we can't turn our noses up at Wane if he wants to come. I don't know why he left in the first place though so don't know whether the issue is resolved.

| While I think that we need a fresh coaching approach (thinking about the massive changes that came about when Madge implemented everything he'd learned not only from NRL, but also NFL and others), I would LOVE to hear the club say that Lam was being replaced by Wane today.
My hope (Note that I say "hope", not "expectation"icon_wink.gif is that he will bring at least SOME new approach(es), based on whatever he may have learned from Rugby Union.
We certainly can't be any worse off under him - Although I am REALLY worried that Matty Peet will just be more of the same as Lammy. Although at least he learnt his trade under SW, not AL.

| Happy for him to to come in a caretaker and if Peet is taking over have him work closely with Waney over the next few game maybe even pre season.

He has already approached former Super League coaches about potential backroom positions for next year I know that.

Wane or Lenagan?
I'd heard Lee Briers name mentioned.

Wane has. Spoken personally to a coach currently out of work with regards to joining next year. I believe if Leuluai retires then the coaching job goes to Leuluai. If he plays again then the job is going to the chap Wane has in mind.

I've heard he's spoken to Duffy and that they gave him a tour of the facilities a few weeks back.
No idea if it's true & it came from a current academy lad, so no reason to doubt it.

Whilst he's a former player, is "new ideas" not what Lam was brought over for? He's not played, or been involved with the club for 20 years or so.
People calling for this white knight from the NRL have Madge tinted specs on. For every Madge & Holbrook, there's even more like Lam, Price, Furner etc.

Lam was brought in to be the stop gap before Edwards for a year. You have to ask why he's still here.

It's a lazy, comfy, appointment that is why the club has gone backwards at the alarming rate it has over the past few years.
The whole club needs an absolute rocket up its backside starting with Lam and Radlinski going. If Wane replaces Radlinski ok - if Wane is going to be coach in all but name we won't move on as we need to.

But again he’ll be anything but lazy, the players will be anything but lazy and it won’t be a comfortable environment for anyone. I know that’s not what you’re saying and I agree on some scores that we shouldn’t keep going back to ex players or members of the coaching staff but this isn’t any old player or assistant coach, conditioner etc, this is the man who dealt with the injury crisis that Lam has, dealt with numerous player exits like Lam has had to and blooded loads of kids like Lam has but he won things, plenty of things.
I’m basing me wanting him back on the assumption that any new man would need to work with what he’s given regards coaching staff, back room staff etc. We won’t get that full clean sweep people think we need, a new man wouldn’t be able to lay off every coach and member of the back room staff and bring in their own men, as that is not how Lenagan does things, so if we’re going to keep going down this route of hiring from within and promoting from within, then there is no better man than Wane to oversee that IMO. If somebody said to be it’s a blank canvas and a new man gets an open cheque book to do what he wants with his staff, than great, let’s get in a totally new man but we know they won’t get that.

From what I’ve heard radders will only be in charge of the marketing and other duties that come with a director (which you can’t really knock him for) Waney will take charge of the buying of players and similar duties. To me with the right coach in place we could be on to a winner. I think Waney knows what he wants in a player and hopefully with input from others could bring the right players in.

I agree we can't get a full clean sweep in one go, but we sure as hell can be ready and planning to get replacements when people's contracts are up. It feels like 2009 again when we need to identify a coach with new ideas and get the club out of the malaise it has got itself into. Our rivals are moving on and trying to get some enthusiasm into their clubs as we start to come out of Covid. If we carry on as we are, people who have got out of the habit of going to games are not going to have good reason to come back.
Like I said if Wane is to replace Radlinski ok, but this incessant looking back at the club is not how you move forward.

I can’t see huge changes in how we do things until such a time Lenagan himself walks away. In that case it takes a pretty special coach to deal with how we do things (promoting from within of players and coaches, regular exits of our best players etc) and whilst Wane may be a comfort blanket of a choice, I can’t think of anybody who I’d have full faith in to make those circumstances work.

I'm hoping that tomorrows fans forum is an honest (as promised) and frank communication between both supporters and club officials that leaves no relevant questions unanswered. I'm talking everything from IL's future plans to the clubs intentions over the next season or two.
If the club draw a massive line in the sand, put plans in place to recover and rebuild. Put in procedures for improvement both on and off the field then I think most supporters will support this.
Try and pull the wool over fans faces with a fake forum and it will do more harm than good, especially regarding much needed 2022 seasons ticket and merchandise revenue.
I do believe the forum should be recorded and delayed footage released (24hrs at the latest). A live stream could expose embarrassing comments which neither the club nor supporters need at this moment in time.

I have no argument about that.
All I'm saying/doing is offering up a bit of caution for the people looking for a magic NRL wand that will solve all of our issues.
Lam had, on paper, the type of CV that many on here would love us to now sign. Part of a few successful NRL systems, head coach experience at PNG and he was the assistant manager for Australia when they won the World Cup.

I agree - NRL does not always = good. The club need to take their time, do their homework and due diligence and make sure the right appointment is made. Maybe the club are doing that and will surprise us all, but I have to say the last few years don't give me much hope at the moment.
