| Quote ="NickyKiss"A really good effort from the forward pack last night against a good Hull set-
Singleton- 15 carries 90 metres 30 tackles
Byrne- 9 carries 58 metres 9 tackles
Havard- 18 carries 114 metres 44 tackles
Mago- 11 carries 91 metres 12 tackles
Smithies- 13 carries 89 metres 33 tackles
Partington- 11 carries 59 metres 30 tackles
Farrell-18 carries 177 metres 25 tackles
Some world class metres from Faz right there and against 13 men.'"
Top man Farrell on and off the pitch.
Got talking to him in Toulouse and when I told him he was my grandson’s favourite player he did a video for him to wish him all the best after a serious rugby injury.
Down to earth, consistently top drawer and his fitness levels are almost ridiculous

Harvard is the best young prop in the game. No question in my mind. He could be anything he wants.
Loving your work on the 'world class yards' too
'"
Saying that it was only his second game back a tremendous effort from Havard
The try he scored was also a little belter.
Agreed the best young prop in the game

As you say, quite incredible given it was his 2nd game and against a big pack like Hull. 100+ metres and a try. More even than that is how impressive his engine is. You would have thought it would take a few games to get up to full match fitness but he's already playing long minutes with no drop off in intensity. He must be one hell of a trainer to get to those levels so quickly.

Fingers crossed that he can keep clear of anymore serious injuries.
I loved how he celebrated his try.
You can tell how much it meant to him.
Hopefully we can build a pack around him for the foreseeable future

| Havard is an NRL-style machine who must be very difficult to control without him being an obvious tackle-buster. He seems to sap energy out of the oppositon.

| Harvard is one I’m desperate to keep long term. He has the potential to be one of the top props in the world. We really need him to find a nice young local lady who doesn’t want to leave the area and settle down.
I’m surprised at Mago’s stats. I felt as though I wanted much more from him but he must have done more than I noticed.

| Does anyone know what the plan is for Silva. Don’t think I’ve seen him play yet. Thought he’d of been a main stay in the reserves this season

| I thought Liam would have much better figures than he has been given.
His first don't was really impressive I thought.
I want sure when he came back in the 2nd half, seemed really late in the game and only had 1-2 hit ups.

Surprised me also. He stood out in the first stint and was great.
The time he returned in the second stint could have been when Hull had a lot of the ball but that would only explain low carries / meters but not low tackles?
Havard is exceptional, those numbers are immense.

I think Byrne only came back on very late due to the lack of subs we had left. Peet was likely holding a change back in case of a further injury.

| Good effort from most of them. Farrell is a machine. IMO he's been quiet since Williams left (relative to previously) but at times this year he's looked back to his best.
Havard just worries me as he is always late into the defensive line. Looks like he's running through sand at times with the agility of a West Stand OAP. But then he goes and steps and scores a try under the posts. Quite odd.

| Will be very interested in the forward stats for this week, i thought they all had excellent games and will all show up well.
Bateman in particular for me was back to his old best, by far his best performance since returning from the NRL. Was my mom yesterday.

I don’t think we’ll get them with it being the cup as people pull them from the Superleague site but they would be interesting. I’d imagine they’d be really impressive for Bateman, Farrell and Havard. I thought Shorrocks was superb as well and has really put a case forward to stay in the 17 when guys like Ellis and Isa are back.

| Shorrocks ran with real purpose when he came on, very impressive.
Liam only came on late 2nd half, put in some aggressive carries but didn't have much game time. May have been saving Hine for a starting spot on GF ?

| The game showed why we signed Mago, gives us something different to open a defence and will be needed against well drilled defences like Saints.

| Spot on with Mago. He’s going well for me, yes you always want more and we’ll get more but he’s settling in nicely. The main thing I’m pleased with is the commitment he’s clearly putting in to getting fitter. He’s lost plenty of weight from the pictures I saw of him last year and I noticed in an interview on Wigan TV with Peet a while after the game that he was out on the field doing some fitness work. I always worry overseas players could see a stint here as a holiday but fair play to the guy, he’s clearly committed to improving and we can’t ask more than that.

| Unusual prop rotations from Peet every week.
Byrne whose been starting and playing big minutes every didn’t come on until 58 minutes. Mago, Shorrocks and Havard on before him, Singleton even returned for a second stint before LB came on.
Partington who seems to be on the outer at the start of the year got a start.
Wonder which two he’ll pick to start against Saints.

Think Singleton will and should be one of the starting props. People have give him some flack recently but I think he sets a good platform. He doesn’t do the flashy stuff but to settle in to a game that’s what you need. I’d probably say smithies for the other position. His work rate is brilliant.
