| Im not a 30 year veteran of watching rugby league and nor do i claim to be an expert but what do the touch judges actually do? Last night the guy was inches from play many times at the east standside where the ref wasnt and he just stands there spectating... ive seen this in all my years watching and its baffling to say the least!! Why dont they assist the ref? The amount of offsides aswell that he dosent even raise his flag for or get involved in is unbelievable!!
It seems to me that their only purpose is to dictate as to where the ball went out of play... How Pish!

So if a Wigan player had intercepted a pass and gone clear, but as he crossed the halfway line the hooter went you would be pi$$ed if the ref blew up, the same thing applies, Dobson had a live ball when the hooter went and until he either touched down or got tackled it was play on. We had the same thing last season when we beat Saints at Craven Park, the hooter went and the ref let play go on for quite a while because Saints were in posession and the ball was still in play.
The ref got it spot on.

A very good question.
The ref last night didn't have a great game and unfortunately when you make as many mistakes as he did some will turn out to be turning points in the game. On balance last night Hull KR deserved to win - just - but crucial refereeing errors at various points undoubtedly assisted them. Games should not be decided by the lottery of poor refereeing decisions and last night came quite close to that.
In defence of the referees though it has to be said that the game is so fast that its impossible for one man to properly control it. The refereee needs more assistance. Touch judges seem to do very little. Rather than introduce a second ref as they have done in Australia, the more cost-effective scenario would be to get the touch judges doing more. Its blindingly obvious but unfortunately the people running the game in this country seem incapable of sorting out even simple issues like this....

No he didnt. The ball HAD NOT been played when the hooter went. Meaning it was dead.

Perhaps Noble should complain to the media and get a £2000 may be next time we will then get the luck of the bounce from the Ref. Bit strange last year Saints complained about an official and did not get him again all season and this year Morgan complains gets a fine then loads of luck.
But at the end of the day for most of the game we played well with loads of commitment we went a bit silly in the last 15mins but it was a good game if you take the Ref out of it i am sure we will bounce back next week the saving grace is that no matter what happens this weekend we will still be 9th and only 2 point behind Cas with a better points difference.

| Maybe the referee didn't hear the siren, but surely one of the four other officials did.
Why didn't the touchjudge just stand his ground, as he would if it were a forward pass, and inform the referee that the siren had gone.

Agreed mate. TBH we have had some shocking decisions against us all season. This is the first one that has gone in our favour for a change. Mind you, Wigan were knackered for the last 10 minutes of the first half.
I think it was a fair score at half time.

Well i could hear it clearly through the Ref radio link so one of the 4 that are linked should have i am sure the club will lodge a protest with the RFL about it but as usual nothing will come of it lets just get on with the rest of the season cant change what has happed can only have influence on what will happen in the future.

Regardless of what happened. I think we would have still edged the game. There was nothing wrong with Dobbo's try that was disallowed either!!

Really. 12-0 is a totally different game. Don't get me wrong, youre a good team that deserves to be where you are, but we didnt get a fair crack last night.

I presume you were in the North Stand with the HKR fans, over 100 metres away from the Dobson "no try"
The in goal judge was 5 metres away, and gave it as no try. I have watched the replays and you cannot see from that camera angle.

He never got that one down there was a player under the ball. If the hooter one had not been given then it could have changed the whole game you would have been 12 - 0 down just after the restart and that could have changed the whole game. But thats all if buts and maybe's the fact is it happened we have got to look to our next game the things Silverwood did last night might have some repercussions on him from the RFL when its reviewed les just hope he gets disciplined over it and he takes notice so no other team have to go through it.

| Where are you all getting this "would've been 12 - 0 down" from? If you want to ignore that try before half time and continue the game as normal then we still win 12 - 14
If both teams go in at 6 - 0 at half time I guarantee the start of the second half pans out differently. Yeah, you may have scored, but Netherton may not have dropped the ball either. It's wings and roundabouts and definitely wasn't the decisive factor in the game.

| How come the Silverwood 'decision' to form a 20m restart instead of a drop-out when it was the most obvious decision to make and quite clearly the Wigan player kicked it out. (12-18 at the time)
What about the 'extra 10 or so minutes' at the end of the game when the scoreboard clock read 80mins.
What about Dobson's 'try' in the first half at 0-0 when it looked like he'd grounded it and even the Wigan fans have said it looked like a try (Not seen it again myself mind)
And, Colbon's knock on which resulted in a penalty for us was quite questionable.
The referee was poor for both sides.

We scored just after Half time that would have put you 12 - 0 down that could have changed the game not saying it would but there is a big difference being 6 points down to being 12 points down. I am not saying it would have changed the result but i am saying it could have.
It was a good hard game shame the ref ended up as the talking point again.

Defiantly mate and it’s a major issue in RL that some don’t want to address. The ref’s on the whole this season have been terrible not only at Wigan but at other places 2.
I know HKR have been on the end of a few dodgy decisions this year and so have we.
I just feel like I’m sick and tired of turning up at the JJB and feeling the ref was incompetent!! It’s soooooo frustrating as nothing ever happens about it and it never changes. We just turn up the next week and the same basic errors are being made again and again.
It’s a shame that after such a quality game in poor conditions by two very committed and tough sides there are discussions going on about things like this BUT these issues need to be raised imo.

For the last time, there is no INJURY TIME in SL!
The clock is stopped byt the Ref and then started when play resumes.
When the Official timekeeper blows the Hooter, that is when we have played 80 mins!
The stadium clock keeps going no matter what and could say 80 mins when the official timekeeper has stopped his for 10 x 1 min periods for injuries, scrums forming etc etc.
That would mean after teh stadium clock says 80 mins there are still 10 mins left!
Get it now????

| I haven't felt so annoyed about a referee since at Wire last year when that prat Ganson gifted Wire the game by being absolutely shocking and unbelievably biased. To be fair though silverwood wasn't biased just shockingly poor and apparently didn't know alot of rules.

no one said that did they what was said was he was in a better position 5yds away and facing the player than your fans 100yds away and looking from the back of the player.

I don't know if it was the correct decision but he was in a far better position to see it than you or I.
However you and I could hear that the referee was wrong with the half time decision.
Unfortunately we're talking about the referee and not what was a great game of Rugby League.

Not at all, but he was the best positioned to give it!
There is no disputing that the Hooter had gone before he played the ball however & Silverwood saying he dind't hear it is a disgrace!
As said by other posters one of the Touch judges should have stayed their ground and said that the Hooter had gone.
Great game, both teams played well for 55 mins or so until the 2 HKR tries around the Hour mark and Wigan seemed to go to pieces.
Dobson's kicking game was the difference and his early kicks on plays 3 & 4 in the second half was great play and something our halves couldn't "Think" to replicate.
Ultimately this led to late charged down kicks on last tackles that changed the game!

im sorry, but the missed GC tackle was purely down to noble.
GC isnt fit, and can be exploited around the outside. nobby could have given him a day off, but chose to play him despite him being exploited the week before. KR know this and took advantage.
poor coaching.
other than that KR defended superbly and deserved their win.
dobson ran the 2nd half - wtf did nobby say at half time ?? wtf didnt anybody attack his legs ???
