At the end of the day until you sign a replacement for Gleeson then you have basically swapped Gleeson for Mathers as it stands right now. Only when you sign Gleesons replacement can you claim to be better off. Until you sign a decent centre you have weakened your team. |

Fair but most people will realise we will sign new players and one of them will be a centre. Lets face it neither of us stand any real chance of winning SL with Leeds or Saints about anway. |

Not neccessarily. Is off field antics and general "did not want to play here" attitude caused more problems than he solved. Dont get me wrong, on his day, big gleese is awesome, & if you get him to apply his obvious talent on a weekly basis you will have a star on your hands. For us, most sensible fans can only applaud a coach who lets go a current GB international with the wrong attitude who clearly did want to play for our club. Good deal all round for both clubs, and TS may not sign a replacement until the close season. With no relegation, he doesnt need to rush either & he can afford to plan accordingly without panic buying.
Mathers doesnt even become part of the deal as the understanding is that Wigan let him go & we signed him on a free. New rumour has it that Reardon is about to be cut & above mathers, we have two better fullbacks on the books anyway. TS has nothing to lose with him, especially if he can regain his former leeds form. Some times, a club signing just does not work out - for a variety of unknown reasons
I for one will watch gleese closely to see if he remains the same or realises he is the last chance saloon now. |

Yeah we know. Alot of the 100k we will get back after thrusday cos Gleeson signing mite bring in 3000 more fans at £18 at ticket we've already got more than half it back  |

Thoroughly happy with the signing, partly because we may now start to see the best of Roberts.
Gleeson has always had great footwork, and been able to create space for his winger, and hopefully we will see just what Roberts can do with some open field in front of him.

Excellent business for Wigan.
Well done to Lenegan for paying out to get the player we need, and I just hope he's true to his word that he is prepared to make further payments as I feel we may have to in the off season.
Best of luck to Mathers also. He never managed to regain his old form here but his attitude could never be questioned and I truly hope he comes good, even if it is for Wire.

A good signing, definately in exchange for Mathers (:lolicon_smile.gif and 100k. Wigan still need a stronger pack and scrum half to be able to challenge Leeds and Saints though.

Big Gleese is very dangerous at about 1.30 in the morning, on his way back from the bar, with a pint pot in each hand and a curry pukka between his peggies, Whoaaaa coming through
