The issue that Saints are facing is that two players into one position won't go. They won't let Pryce leave as he's A-still youngish and B- has the valuable experience they are going to need as the likes of KC, Long, Gilmour, Gidley and Cayless aren't spring chickens any more.
I’m not saying it will be this season or even next but sooner rather than later one of those good players COULD well be up for grabs and we’d be foolish to miss out on either of them.
I don’t know what some of the Saints fans on here think about how those two are going to fit into their team.

Agree that at least one of them is likely to become available at some point but both will only be 20 by the start of the 2010 season. It's likely to be at least 2 or 3 seasons until either becomes available and Leon Pryce will be 30 or so by then - it would be a 50/50 whether they keep him for another two years or try and fit Wheeler and Eastmond into the same team.
Don't think we can afford to have another two years of "transitional period" waiting for someone to partner Sam in the halves.

My understanding is that it's at least four. Inevitably that decreases our chances of snagging the lad, but Warrington have no reason to be confident either.

Who do you think they are?
Think Saints, Wire and ourselves are certainties - Bradford interested? Deacon's been a bit injury prone of late and Jefferies isn't of the standard they're used to.

There are some massive decisions to be made in regards to recruitment at the end of this season that’s for sure.
IL has to deliver the players we need

| We need to sign a new 6 and IMO get rid of the dead wood ASAP - the likes of Riddell, Bailey, Roberts etc. can go but we have them on some shockingly long deals.
A good 6 months from Bailey shouldn't be enough to get him a new deal.
If McIlorum's deal is up and he wants more money tell him where he can get off - sometime in the next two years we need to move LuLu to 9, McIlorum on the bench as interchange hooker and get rid of Riddell. Keep Sam at 7 and sign a new 6 (or pray that Pryce can play there).

Not as of the beginning of this week.
You may get him, but nothing has been signed yet, so nothing is decided. More hats are now in the ring.

They're all sides at the top(ish) end of the table, apparently. Or sides who believe they should be there.

| If the right players aren't available then we need to wait.
It wouldn't be sensible to sign the players who are now available just because they are available tying us to that player in a contract than allows them to take up some of the cap which we will need for future right signings.
Don't sign Webb, wait, LMS or another good prop will be available soon (for example)
If IL doesn't make a single signing this summer I'll put it down to none of the right players being available no point signing someone for the sake of it.

| Quote ="thepriestman85"I know it's a complete long shot to even think about but when I look at Saints they have Wheeler and Eastmond who imo both have the potential to be as good as Myler. (in fact Eastmond is up there already)
I can’t see them both having a future at Saints with Pryce being 27 and Wellens 29. Maybe Wheeler could replace Gidley when he leaves but you’d think Soliola has the other spot nailed on?'"
Saints have three players eyeing the two creative slots - Wheeler, Eastmond and Lomax (four - if you included Matty Smith). At the start of the season the smart money was on Eastmond. Neither Wheeler nor Lomax were expected to make much of a breakthrough this year, but both appear to have jumped a mile forward of their development schedule whilst Eastmond's season - until recently - has been dogged by injuries.
More than likely the selection headache has resolved itself. Eastmond has the scrum half spot nailed down. Thus far Wheeler has shown so well he can expect the stand off role (with Pryce moving to loose forward) or centre. Since his first major showing against Wakey at FB Lomax has been nothing short of a revelation. Right now he's the go-to guy if either Wheeler or Eastmond hit problems. Although Potter appears to view him as Wellens' natural replacement.
Quote Cheeky bid perhaps?'"
Another?
As for Offiah, he is causing more than the odd wave of consternation in the sport by the way he chooses to hawk his impressive and growing list of clients about to any who will listen - including RU. Which is more than a bit unsettling.
