I don't think the highlighted bit was out of context. The general jist of your post was that reaching semis isn't good enough.

FWIW I agree with your post about demanding a final from the new coach being ludicrous. I was just pointing out the inconsistencies in yours and others argument.

On the one hand reaching semi finals isn't good enough, we need a coach who can take us to the next level etc. Presumably the next level from a semi final is a final?

For example if Noble were still in charge would you be happy with a 4th placed finish and a semi-final? If not why would you be happy with this under a new coach?

We did this in 2008 but then got rid of Barrett and didn't replace him so how people expected us to improve in 2009 is still a mystery.

I maintain I don't think this squad is good enough to win a title. I think Saints are on the decline so we may be in a good position to take a top two slot in the next couple of years, not necessarily next year (although it will be interesting to see how they go without Long in the big games).

Just been to riversiders and almost confirmed that Mcguire is new coach, or enough was said to suggest it is an aussie. Ashurst would have loved it to be Wane as would I.

Exactly. And at this moment in time that is where I'd like Wane to be. He's never been near the first team before and has been part time for most of his coaching career. I'd love for him to take over in 3 years time after working under, what I hope, is a successful coach in Maguire.

Agreed its a perfect role for him for me. We have a new coach with an old guard stalwart of the club stepping up to his natural next position, who knows what down the line will happen to Wane after continuing his development but at the moment i think reserves to head is simply too big a jump.

Hopefully we can have a good balance with Maguire and Wane. Maguire can instill some tactics and descipline into the team and Wane can teach the majority of them what pride in the Wigan shirt is. Should be a good mix, 2 coaches out there to prove that they can cut it rather than Noble who has already been there and done it all, that on its own should as a new element to it all imo

As to the questions put, I see Rogues is back to the discredited if you don't go to Orrell you know nothing argument. It's just his opinion Noble had some great influence on the junior sides and the structure of the club. Why going to Orrell as a fan to watch the junior teams imparts some superior level of knowledge on how the club is run internally I have no idea.

No He's not, he's asking you how come you know that BN didn't have a part to play in the set up of the New Facilities at Orrell or in how the systems and process work at Junior level if you haven't been?

He has been and talks to many juniors who have been throught both systems and (As i can vouch for myself) discussed with prople who were/are directly involved in the coaching/youth set up and you discredit him by saying it's just his opinion.

You haven't been and as far as I know haven't given any indication of where you get your information or ideas from and Yet when someone gives BN a bit of credit for what he has done for "The Whole Club" top to bottom you dismiss it and in essence say he had nothing to do with the facilities, the Youth recruitment set up, the processes and systems to which they play, how they are coached within a structure through the club.
You say all of this without any Facts yet preach to all as though they are.

At the bare minimum what you are both saying is OPINION.

In reality
Knowing for myself what work went into the new facilities and the junior systems & set-ups both Pre & during Noble's reign I can tell you IMO it is a hundred times better.
That's based on knowing what it was like, knowing what Noble wanted to do with the place and how his ideas were taken on and implemented, through knowing Staff personally who worked pre & during Nobles reign etc etc etc.

Now if you can give us some idea where you got your opinions from I'll gladly listen.

You my change my view on what Noble has done, behind the scenes, as well as purely on a results & performance based basis with the 1st team.

Well i would suggest it exposes you to how that setup works, who is normally involved on matchday etc, and permits you a higher level of access than the first team allows.

As for Orrell, a poster above proved how and when it was built. Will you now accept it was down to Noble and his desire to see us have decent facilities?
