Lam won't be starting Liam Byrne again any time soon.

Like i said before, everyone was praising him last week. Does one awful game make him a bad player? He had a stinker today, but overall he's been pretty decent lately.
But the lack of Bullock is odd, to say the least.

Spot on.
It's infuriating how hot and cold our fans blow.
Overall Byrne has has a positive start to the year. Outside of that he's progressed from last season imo.

Yes he has been decent, off the bench. I'm pretty sure Byrne was dropped after the last game he started for Wigan (against Hull KR last year).

course he has, he hardly played last year, Ive never got the love in from him, Partington gives you loads of energy and tackles all day but makes no metres, Byrne is the same as Partington without the tackling and energy.

Yep.
Byrne, Shorrocks, Smithies and Partington are all basically just clones of each other. Tackle until they're dead but lacking any real quality with ball in hand. I imagine they've all spent far too much time in Waney's wrestling pit and not enough on the training field with a ball in their hand.

Tbf I don't know the lad, but this situation doesn't paint him in the best light imo. I understand that he needs to get a wage, but he's immensely talented and still young. Sport in general is littered with late bloomers that had very good careers.
He's got more potential than Bullock (he's not a better player yet tho). Go away from Wigan, but surely stay in the game and give it another year as a regular player.'"
Or it shows that for players outside of the mainstream that the game doesn’t pay well and there are better opportunities elsewhere. What’s the sample size to say he has the potential people are claiming? A few seasons in the 19s where it’s easy for our teams? For the vast majority, if they are good enough they have a place in the game at some of the other clubs. Perhaps, the data available on him that clubs have access too paints a picture that rules them out of signing him.

| Watched a couple of videos with two player agents this week that Matthew Shaw did and both said it’s becoming the norm for players to get jobs and play part time in the championship. He said loads of good lads in the championship are turning down superleague deals because the money isn’t good enough for them to walk away from a job plus part time rugby money.

Maybe, but look at guys like Bullock a former winger, who didn't make waves during his first stint at the club, or Mullhearn at Wire. Both dropped to the championship and now play for top SL sides.
Give it 12/24 months and he'd still be 22/23. That's when guys his age come out of uni anyway. The prospects provided by a FT career in RL is huge imo.

I wouldn’t disagree with you in normal times but it does concern me the lack of money in the game. It has to bite at some point and the player pool will reduce even further. If he doesn’t fancy the challenge then long term all sides are better off but we don’t know the details.

| Let’s not kid ourselves here. It’s not a [icrisis [/i, far from it. But 5 chances at a trophy and 5 bottle jobs. SL as our last hope? Not likely IMO. That means we [ishould [/ibe looking at a change in Head Coach and if we are looking to do that it ought to be done well before October. Even if it’s just announced Lam is to leave at the end of the season. He isn’t the coach for us and I’ve maintained that for a while now and still do. He was only ever meant to be ‘interim’ Head Coach, I think we’re seeing why.

I agree, but tbf I also think he's a great coach.
If he was back in the NRL, at the roosters under Robinson he'd be in his element imo.

The only improvement in coaching during Lam’s tenure has been the appointment of Peet.
He’s out of his depth and gets found out when it really matters
I see nothing in Lam that remotely suggests he can coach at any level

| The lack of size and go forward in your pack really showed today imo. Last week you were able to have success by putting some width on the ball. Today wasn't the conditions for that and Hull knew that they had the measure of you in an arm wrestle. It was a very simple and patient gameplan from us and the final score probably doesn't quite tell the whole story of our dominance. It wasn't even a particularly big Hull pack either. Hodgson put all of his big men on at the start, but even amongst those only Satae is the real man mountain. The pack was as small as it gets with Brown, Cator, Johnstone and Wynne.
In good conditions when you can put some air on the ball you are a very good side indeed. But in the wet when you have to roll your sleeves up you just don't have the players imo, and that's something Lam needs to address.
Granted you made a number of unforced and uncharacteristic errors which didn't help your cause, but even without a couple of helping hands I always thought we had the measure of you.

I think there's a difference between being a head coach and a coach in the traditional sense of the word.
Powell is the obvious example of a player that he's improved. I actually think Isa and Faz have got better under him too.

He’s been a number two in his whole career in Australia and you always feel like there has to be a reason for that. We’re still paying for the Edwards debacle for me. That along with living from season to season on players contracts has just left the club feeling a bit frenetic to me.
It’s funny to be moaning so much when we’re 5 from 5 in the league but weekly round scrappy wins, followed by big game slumps has been common place. Wane got criticism for his style of play but it’s worse now than ever and unlike Wanes time we don’t win anything of note.

I acknowledge Powell albeit not this season
Farrell??
Isa ??
I made my mind up about Lam in Barcelona and nothing absolutely nothing for me has changed.
He’s been promoted way above his actual capabilities

What is his level then? Is he somehow worse than a Peet because that's the level I think he should be at.
I think Isa played his best rugby last year.

His tactics, team selection and preparations are amateurish so I suppose Judes or Pats could be his level
