The image it sends seems very clear, regardless of the actual way Wigan are moving in terms of promoting young players.'"
Some of the trolls on here make me laugh.
I had some guy (Non rugby supporter) come up to me at work the other day and he said "I watched your lot on telly on Friday and theyve got a lot of homegrown youngsters havent they?"
I just started laughing and said "according to fans of all the other teams in super league we are the foreign legion!"

Do you never get tired of trotting out cliches? You're talking utter rubbish, mate.
Thornley - mainly at the instigation of his parents and his agent - has been flirting with Rugby Union for the last two years. And given that he's never achieved anything in Rugby League, and doesn't seem too worried about it (he hasn't even appeared in the Wigan first team apart from for 10 minutes in a charity match, during which he didn't distinguish himself), you have to wonder if this second big payday (courtesy of the dumb clucks at Sale) was his plan all along.
This defection has got naff all to do with any signings Wigan have made Down Under. It's been on the cards for ages and ages, long before the Melbourne Storm controversy broke. To say or even imply otherwise is a downright lie.
That's why Wigan fans are irritated. Because yet again people who should know better are telling lies about our club. Now you can sit up there on this unassailable moral high ground that Leeds fans seem to occupy at the moment (though God knows why, when you've got so many imports of your own) and pretend you don't know what the fuss is about ... but I'd like to bet that if public figures started misrepresenting your club's activities, you'd be among the first to complain bitterly.

| This was the same club that released Mark Calderwood and signed Scott Donald, released Richie Mathers and signed Brent Webb, released Chev Walker and signed Clinton Toopi and released Gareth Ellis and signed Greg Eastwood.

| All this just shows how much opposition fans and biased media presenters (Eddie) are "bricking it" - Wigan are already top of the league and should have beaten Leeds in the Cup Q/F. That's without the 3 stars coming in plus Gareth Hock for 2011. We will hardly miss the players they are replacing as they have hardly featured or contributed much this year ( Feka, Bailey, Phelps, possibly Deacon)
The future could be cherry and white!

And how professional would Lenagan spitting his dummy out at a few negative comments look?
He would simply be mocked for it, and his points (although vaild) would be ignored.
The management and the fans know what it happening at Wigan is improving us immeasurably and that is good enough for me.
Let the media say what they want, once we start winning trophies (and we will) I'll not care one iota.'"
I fail to see why it has to be a dummy spit. IL just needs to be his calm controlling self and present the facts regarding some of the myths pedaled by Wiggy, GMR and coaches alike. Im sick of hours of pointless arguments about our homegrown talent, game tactics, groundsharing etc...
Something akin to what G.Hetherington did on BootsNAll couple months back should surfice without the obvious digs at rival clubs.

Maybe he's just tired of saying it. He made several comments to this effect during the the press conference the other day, but they have clearly been ignored. The likes of Wiggy - possibly the most unsubtle RL commentator in the game at present - will always ignore stuff that doesn't suit his agenda.
The energy and intensity with which Wigan comings and goings are watched, compared to other clubs, is quite hilarious.

| 3 import signings in but at least 3 leaving and likely to be 4. Why that is hard to grasp is beyond me.

The point still stands that each player has been replaced by an overseas player where as our club is currently taking stick, left right and centre despite letting 4 players go and only bringing 3 in as well as having the second most amount of academy talent in our team.

We have only released Wigan academy lads who wasnt rated as good enough but yet we get hammered over it constantly, were still having to defend ourselves for letting Aspinwall Briscoe Robinson Wild and Hargreaves go but yet not 1 ive mentioned would get near our 17 going off this years performances. The only 1 potentially who would play would be Brown but hes inferior to Sam.

This'll do for me...
www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/georgeriley/ ... _gain.html
"Hoffman believes Wigan fans are going to love what they see from the Melbourne trio. "I have never seen a bloke train harder than Lima," he says. "He is always in the gym doing extras which is why he can play so many minutes for such a big bloke. Finch's greatest attribute is his ability to stay cool under pressure. That comes with experience. As for me, well I just hate losing, I can't stand it. That is why I'm joining Wigan. The whole town expects success and that brings out your best football."
Hoffman's big sell is certain to get the Wigan fans on side. And the following remarks will further endear him to the Warriors faithful. "I read that Leeds-Bradford is an airport and that Wigan-St Helens is a rivalry. It's one I can't wait for," said Hoffman. "Wigan-Saints is the game you want to play in and I can't wait for my first one."
Madge [Maguire being at Wigan was the big factor," says the 26-year-old Hoffman. "There was interest from other Super League clubs but I was never going to entertain those until I spoke to Madge. When he called me to say how excited he was and how much he thought I could contribute to the likes of the Tomkins brothers, I started to look forward to coming over."
