fwiw i'd have him back if his attitude has improved. He was well on his way to becoming the best English fullback in superleague when the rumours started about a move to Union and he went to pieces.

He has everything a modern day fullback needs going forward although his defence needed work(saying that Mathers made his defence look pretty good).

Think it's likely your first point - there's still a chance he can make the 15 shirt at Northampton his own if they switch Foden to 9 (currently plays fullback/wing and scrum half in various games).

There'll be no shortage of clubs wanting to sign Ashton if he does leave Northampton - Premiership sides, Super League and Top 14 too so have to ask if he'll be worth the money he's likely to command.

Does anybody else think that prop isnt a position where continuity is that essential? Obviously you need time in the halves, hooker, and the relationship between centre and winger.

Everyone keeps saying they'd struggle to get two years in superleague, who cares! Get them for one year, they leave, get another one in for the money.

Obviously it'd be nice to have the same props year after year, but we've got that at the minute, and they're cr@p.

Baileys wage alone could go on a world class prop. We'll be paying Bailey a massive amount, i dont mind him as a player, just not worth the money.

So then we would potentially have a set of props of ............and fielden.

And then Coleys wage, which is a bit of an unknown. It could cover a new prop such as Lynch, or even if he keeps up his current form maybe a new contract for himself?


I'd be happy with that set of props, feka and o'carroll interchanging, with prescott/fielden interchanging with the new prop.

Maybe give Tommy a chance behind a pack that isn't a bunch of pansies, and see if he can handle the scrum half position with tomkins alongside him.

I believe he was taken to hospital yesterday for a scan after a head injury in the reserve team game.

If he comes good you will potentially have the two best british centres on your books, which is nice for you!

I think next year again he will be cover for Gleeson and Carmont and be our main back up back, so its unlikely he will get a decent run unless we pick up some injuries.

2011 is the season he will step forward to replace Carmont, no point in training him up getting him fit and then getting rid just when we need him, if there was any option it would have to be in our favour.
