The big problem is Nobles attitude towards Fielden. Even though he has been $hite for 3 seasons he has never been dropped from the team. He is the first name on the team sheet and is hardly ever subbed. Noble is obviously not being harsh enough , any other coach would have in the reserve team but not Nob - he's pbvs too pally with him. This probably causes loads of resentment with the other players , considering Fielden is the blue eyed boy , yet he is by far and away the worst performer yet again. I want Stu to regain his form but it aint gonna happen , he cant handle the pressure at this club , fine but why is he in the team week after week??

He is the answer to so many of our problems, he could protect Sam, enforce the opposition and get us where we need to be.

I've been saying it for 2 seasons. He isn't fit to wear the shirt (or any shirt in SL atm). People are finally realising he isn't good enough.

He'll be at the top of his game next year imo as he'll be after a deal with a superleague club(i say 'a' superleague club because i don't really think he cares which aslong as they pay him well).

However good he does play though i'm now of the opinion he should be released. He'll only go back to his old self when he's signed on the dotted line so let somebody else make the mistake.

If fielden plays well next year when is contract is coming to an end i will be fuming, he is stealing a living, anyone can turn up, catch the ball a few times drop the ball a few times, drop the ball in the tackle etc, tell me what is he doing at the moment that Mossop couldnt do? Mossop could do more, Fielden should be the one out on loan to Barrow.

Lenagan needs to tell him theres a good deal on the table if his form warrents it, keep putting talks off throughout the season and then when the season finishes rip it up infront of his face and send him on his way.

I'd advice Mr Lenagan to have a couple of local hardnuts on either side of him though............................on second thoughts i'll borrow him my 2 year old twin nephews.

The old Fielden would have been, this heartless idiot that currently wears #8 for us should stick to selling overpriced sandwiches, he simpily doesnt care.

The sad thing is he will end up at Wakefield and Kear will turn him back into the player he once was.

Fielden is 29, I reckon he could get a longer deal from a lower club like Wakefield, Salford or Celtic. Maybe get a 3/4 year deal to see his carerr out, if I were Lenenghan I would put it to the other SL clubs about taking him off our hands at the end of the season.

I think the only props worse at Wigan I have seen are Bibey, Mallam, Stevenson, McDonald, James, Wilkes and Goldspink?

I don't honestly think the heart is there anymore for him to be the player he was unless it's to save him his regular income.

The only way i see clubs getting a decent level of preformence out of him would be for them to sign him on half season contracts or even less and keep making him preform.

The thing is I think Stu will actually be gutted about his form etc.. but whatever he tries he cannot regain his form of 3 years ago.

I agree with MOST of things posted but not all. He has certainly lost part of his game and will become the next player to hear the crowds groans when his name is announced prior to KO. But he hardly gets any help in the front row does he? Coley has done next to nothing for the past two years. We have had two good young kids trying and playing well but they don't have that respect yet that is needed in the front row. Then there is Fecka, yes he is good at what he does but we all know he is a luxury player not hard nose grafter. Put Fielden proping along side Smith, Cowie or Q and im sure you would see a different player. But I dont think he is going to be around the next time we sign player as good as the ones named.

Early doors i though we were in for a cameo Fielden performance, put in a massive hit and did an aggresive run, after that point he capitulated.


Said it many many times his relationship with Noble may well have made him but it will also cost him, needs new fresh ideas and input, or should i say needed, personally do not think anything can save him now.

When he was at the Bulls, Fielden used to take the ball at speed, run a straight line at speed and drive through tackles.

He now tries to stop dead and bump players off, then continue the momentum. This results in him being bitched most of the time and frequently losing the ball.

Either, he is being coached to run that way, in which case Nobby isn't doping his job. Or, he has changed his style off his own bat and Nobby hasn't corrected it in which case Nobby isn't doing his job.

If I were Nobby, I'd be having a 1 on 1 chat, away from the club and ears and eyes and sorting things out.

If Fielden got back to basic rugby league, 2 handed carries, hitting the ball at speed and good leg drive, he'll start to win the collision again and retain the ball. A few games of that and then progress from there.

Doesn't matter what happens from now until the end of the season, he should go as soon as possible.

Fielden has always been regarded by the pro coaches for his outstanding footwork, but he has lacked the direct basic graft for 99% of his Wigan career.

The key for a Prop is to find there front, he never does, he runs far too upright and is an easy target for the opposition because of his style and lack of suppporting players/off the ball runners.

I am sure Fielden and BN must have had "the chat" i would be livid if they did not by now.

Said for a long time on here Fielden needs to go back to basics which is take the ball up and find the front, simple as that.

Fighting for some form of pride as he takes the ball up is very dumb rugby he simply slows the play the ball down up and get shoved back and dominated.

The talk should be. Stuart, find the floor with your front on 60% of your carries our you are dropped.

Ben Cross would show him how to take the ball in!

Although not a prop we need a Paul Gallen type player. (Or even better Paul Gallen.) Then Hock could prop Lockers 2nd row and Gallen type at loose. Sam Thaiday would be good. Takes the ball in hard all day and has been playing 80 mins as well. Either way Stu needs to be dropped and IL will have to get the cheque book out.

both are better natural talents then Bryn Hargreaves yet he is thriving on playing in that enviroment and having rafts of leaders and quality players around him.
