Only real interest will be in the 5 shirt. That will say a lot about who'll get that spot at the start of the year.

Imagine if its Burgess or Manfredi! From u19's to a potential WCC spot opposite Tuivasa-Sheck! Nothing to worry about for them as Sheck himself was a reserve grader this time last year.

I have no doubt that 5 will be Burgess. I'm looking forward to 8, 10 and seeing where Hopkins, Club and Sarginson feature

TBH i look at the shirt numbers as "potential" starters in that position...look back through the records on Bilkos site and you'll find the numbers dont necessarily mean automatic starts

Flower and Taylor 8 and 10 for me too.

I rate Taylor a lot, indeed he's probably my favourite player right now, but I reckon he's more effective coming off the bench. Him and Pettybourne coming on after 15-20mins would be pretty damn difficult for a lot of teams to deal with.

Shirt numbers mean nothing with regards to the starting forwards, I think Taylor will get the 10 shirt to recognise that he is one of our senior props and to reward last seasons form, but I agree he is a very effective player off the bench.

The 5 shirt is interesting, the precedent over the last few years has been that new/promoted players don't get a 1-13 shirt, finch, Hoffman and Lima for examples (Bowen will probably get 1 though). Jack Hughes got the 4 shirt last season and very rarely played there. It wouldn't surprise me if Gelling got the 5 shirt this season, even if Burgess/Manfredi overtake him for a place in the side.
