Got to agree.
Wane signs players so the team can play a ‘steam-pig’ game.
If Matin Offian was available today as he was all those years ago, Wane wouldn’t sign him. He prefers the Willie Isa type.
Williams is too bulked up which has slowed him down. If he was playing for Saints, he would be outstanding.

| It’s becoming evident that there are issues behind the scenes effecting the players. Is it any coincidence ST and SW announce their off and our performances take a nose dive?
The body language, the lethargicness, the sheer lack of attitude to win was astounding but what was more disconcerting was the soft defence attitude. That’s not a Wigan attitude we’ve seen since 2006 and it certainly is not a Shaun Wane team attitude.
I don’t want to make it sound like a crisis after two poor games; but I am starting to wonder whether Wane should leave early?

I counted four. Utterly shambolic performance, live on BBC as well.
We have been averaging five tries a match (and playing some good rugby), however we're currently on one try in 160 minutes. Are the wheels coming off? Have we been sussed? Can the players be ar$ed?
Most SL teams would have beaten us today.

| The sooner we get to the end of the Wane regime the better for me, Let’s get rid of some dead wood, get a coach in who can add finesse and finally get us away from having 13 props on the field

If the coach for 2019 has been identified and is available, then I think he will do just that. Our season could collapse pretty quickly if the last two weeks' performances are what is in store.

It’ll depend heavily on the Wakefield away result on Thursday. I could foresee Winder taking over the reigns until the seasons end with a new coach inbound after.
Part of the issue for me as well is that we haven’t announced a new coach. I know these things can take time but IL needs to have one in place ASAP so players and potential new players know who they may be playing under come 2019.

Before today I thought dropping him was out of the question due to a lack of options in the squad. Don’t think think it would do us or him any harm now after that to see him on the sidelines. As for the future, he’s physically built like a solid 9 and is sadly for a ‘marquee 6’ playing like one. Isolate his skills at the minute and he’s basically playing like a 9 who jump out of dummy half, runs up his own backside and then puts a kick in. Sad thing is he’s doing it in open play and killing us.

Based on our lack of go forward at 9, I’d play him there at the moment with the instruction to jump out of dummy half. He could easily play a similar role to what Daryl Clarke did today. Where would you play him?

| I often think that differ ent types of halfback can compliment each other.
Williams looked good when he played alongside Matty Smith & vice versa.
Smith did the basic stuff and that left Williams to be more off the cuff

I still think that is the case.
Hopefully a new coach will turn his quickly plummeting career around.

| I must admit ... this is the first time in 2018 that I've felt the same way I did at the end of 2017: namely that we went so meekly and shamelessly to the slaughter that heads should quite genuinely roll.
I blame the players more than the coach. They were casual, uninterested, de-energised, and made every single conceivable error it's possible to make in a match (either that, or they just didn't do anything at all - like our invisible marquee men). That last try they allowed Warrington to walk in unopposed was the final, undeniable proof of it.
But it would be ridiculous to believe that SW's decision to go hasn't had a knock-on effect; it's almost as though the players are sulking about it and there's been a collective decision to punish the club by underperforming ... which should be reflected at contract renegotiation time.
Shaun Wane's already going, so whether we like it or not (and I appreciate there are fans in both camps), the optimum time for a big clear-out is upon us. Whether that will happen, I don't know. But that farce was such a throwback to last year that all my concerns and worries that this particular regime has jaded beyond repair have been reignited.

| Said this at the game - The players look like they no longer care about anything Wane has to say. After all, what can he do about it and he's doing one anyway.
As for today's game, I felt that Bateman, Tautai, Marshall and Davies (when he was given the ball - which was rarely) did OK. The rest were just varying degrees of abysmal.
One exception - Escare. Any idea why he only seemed to last about 10 minutes?
S Tomkins - Couple of decent kicks early on, then a rapid slide in to mediocrity (at best), and still scared to death of actually running the ball in and having to take a tackle. He'd rather throw a 20m ball across our own try-line than take that tackle.
Gildart - Offered nothing, other than gifting Wire a try by piddling about and running sideways across his own try-line.
Williams - Mediocre player (right now) with just 2 "tricks". The show-and-go that never actually goes, as everyone knows it's coming, and the "Oh shït, I don't know what to do, so I'll kick it on the 3rd tackle".
Powell - At best an average hooker. Never a half-back at this level (possibly at any level)
Flower - Couple of runs, but nothing even close to the level that was expected today.
Clubb - See Flower
Leuluai - Getting old, slowing down. Still puts in a couple of big hits and makes a couple of decent passes, but no longer up to doing a full shift at hooker.
J Tomkins - Absolutely anonymous. Only noticed him when he fumbled the ball and managed to recover it before it hit the deck. RU has ruined him.
Farrell - Real "off" game today. Left to do the kicking for us, due to headless-chickenism by our so-called leaders on the pitch. Offered little.
Isa - Wet blanket all game. No energy, no go-forward, little effort at all
All-in-all it looked like a bunch of lads who can no longer be d.
I pray to the small gods that we don't let Winder take over as Head Coach, but if the last couple of games (since Wane's announcement) are anything to go by, we couldn't do any worse by letting him take over until the end of the season (with the added bonus that I believe that it will show IFL just how much of a mistake it would be to appoint him full-time - or it would force me to eat my words - Either way works for me, frankly).
For me, Shaun Wane should offer to walk now, as he's clearly lost the dressing room.

We were completely bullied right across the park - out team is far too small. This is something Radlinski mentioned at the start of 2014 and he's done absolutely nothing about it. When Wane goes Radlinski needs to follow him because our recruitment over the last few years has been shocking and too much of our cap is tied up in too many returning players who haven't delivered.

Compare that to Hill who did 57 mins, had an 8 min breather and then returned for the last 15 mins.

Direct quote from Wane
"I'm the most stubborn man in the world. (Owner and chairman) Ian Lenagan and (executive director) Kris Radlinski have always been loyal to me and I pick my own players. If I want a player, they say 'great' and they go and get them for me.
He was given the rule of the roost and got it badly wrong, and yes Radlinski is compliant and even though I am a big fan of IL, he took his eye off the rugby ball when furthering his association with the round ball.
He needs to act quickly now.
