Besides Madge. I think one of the reasons we are doing so much better this season is that for the first time in ages we have had a settled squad and that has helped us to bring in the young players. I think Fieldon should be retained for another 2years. He must know himself that he will have to take a huge drop in pay, he wont expect to get the same as he does now , and also he will know that he could not get that wage at any other club. This season he seems to be really happy at where he is and he is always one of the first players to come across to the fans at the end.

In todays League Express it says Frank Endecott and Peter brown are in the UK at the moment offering top star players from down under to SL clubs. They are meeting Wigan Warriors officials today.

They were at the game yesterday and also at Orrell on Saturday for the U20's game.

I think most people would acknowledge that Fielden has played well this season and that he should be re-signed, if possible, at the right price. The key question though is how much people would be prepared to pay him and if he would even stay for that amount. We desperately need another top quality prop, I would even like to see 2 if Feka goes, and it all depends on how the salary cap can be managed and how Fielden fits into that.

all the rumours this side of the penines claim feilden is a done deal for hull fc....
reading this thread indicates that he has had a good solid season....one of which puts to bed the claim that he is finished...seeing as you see him week-in week-out..

All i know is that maguire rates Fielden highly.

He might want a fresh start in hull though with the stick he has taken from fans for a number of years at wigan, i have some idiot sat near me at the DW who is always shouting 'get off fielden your useless!' or something similar

safe to say he's better than cusack radford and dowes....certainly cusack, he is painful to watch at times....hopefully if we could land him, he would add to our half-decent pack with moa, o'meley at props along with dowes..plus he's english!!!!

Fieldens yardage, enthusiasm, speed of play the ball, nuisance value and stamina alone should see him earn a new deal not least a shoe in for the England team despite the eternal s referring to the Tri-Nations incident. We've all slept since then...whilst he has clearly woken up.

I wouldnt put him above Peacock, Graham, Morley Carvell TBH

Coley should get a shout before Fielden IMO, hes been our standout prop this season

Carvell? Fielden by plenty.

Whilst Coley has improved significantly under Maguire, at international level his likeness of conceding penalties and making errors in key positions would drop him behind Fielden for mine. Lynch, Bailey or Ben Harrison would be my pick before Coley.

2 year deal on the right money for me.

I have a feeling Fielden may want to return to Yorkshire at the end of his contract anyway.

He was having a bellter yesterday couldnt figure out why mm took im off when he did in the first half

I thought he had a good game. I wont go overboard like some of the other superlatives that have been thrown his way. I still dont think hes anywhere near an england shirt though and hes certainly not up there with Carvell like someone has suggested. That said, given his experience and current form, he would be a major asset to any club I feel.

This is my ratings for English props

1. Graham - need i say any more about this man?

2. Peacock, Morley - Solid and Dependable, would give any team a massive boost

3. Lynch, Scruton, Carvell, Coley, Fielden, Crabtree - good club players who wouldnt go amiss in an England jersey

Pretty accurate, albeit I think Crabtree has capitulated back to his usual batting below his weight form of previous seasons. Once again, for fear of one-eyed, terrace-esque response, Ryan Bailey's form this season for Leeds has been outstanding and his workrate, occupation of players around the ruck, nuisance value, ability to dominate opponents is something many of the above don't offer and England are lacking since Barrie Mac, Kelvin Skerrett, Neil Cowie et al.

Ryan Bailey is just a penalty machine though.

When Fielden is pumped up and confident in himself, there's very, very few players I'd have ahead of him in Super League. When he's in this mode, he gives the whole team a lift - he takes it upon himself to ensure the side meets the standards that are needed. Look at the rollocking he gave Bailey and co after missing the tackle on Pryce for the first try.

To be fair, he's been like this for most games this year - by far his best year for Wigan.

Stu himself didn't look too chuffed with the decision when he came off in the first half, he looked up at Madge and Wane on the gantry and shook his head as is to say 'what the ...... did you take me off for?'

He's definately one to keep and as much as I like Feka he's the least effective of our 5 front line props so bye bye Feka.

I wished we had left him on for more of the game tbh; he was immense and we all know he can do the minutes.

Doubt that mate. Crusaders maybe. I can see why he's a fans favourite. Similar to when Lima was with us.

that is what i'm hoping for and also that we add another prop to the squad to work alongside them aswell as getting Hock back part way through the year. If that happens then we'll have a monster pack.
