The laughable thing is a late challenge on a kicker carries an automatic yellow card, why is this not the same for a late challenge on somebody who has just passed? the 2 scenarios are almost identical yet the punishments aren't

It is a yellow for a late hit on the kicker, im not sure what the rule is regarding a man who is just standing there after a pass.

Sam is obviously a target because without him Wigan wouldn't be as good. The shoulder charge to his head was extremely late and deserved a one match ban. I have never condoned dirty players from Wigan and was pleased when Newton left.

Around the same time as Sam got the cheap shot, there was to me a bit more of a hint of gouging in the tackle by a Cas player.

I think it's because when a late challenge is committed on a kicker, he's usually either on one leg or in the air, so the risk of injury is greater.

I see what you are saying if thats the rule then fair enough but is absolute garbage you are in a relaxed position regardless an injury is just as likely wether a kick or pass has just been made, you are vulnerable either way, especially if the late hit is around the head.

Correct it is a contact sport after all Sam made no big deal about it so he must have thought it was fair. It was no different than the hit Feca did on the Graham last year.

just watched the game again apparently in the last couple of minutes of the game when fielden was on the ground you can see piggy alledge that Terry Matterson ran on the pitch in a Cas stip and pull out Fieldens spine, this is ofcourse obsurd as its clear for all to see fielden lost his spine after a tap on the jaw by a big Aussie
