| Quote ="moto748"I can understand people don't like to see these above-inflation prices, but SL is still a hell of a lot cheaper than football. Based on the 'superstar' criterion, I agree that the Premiership isn't a fair comparison, but I just checked the prices for my home-town club, who are in League 1, so third tier of football.
Best seats are £480. 'Early bird' price £425. Admittedly that is for more matches, though. Works out to £20.87 per game. And even now, SL offers a much higher standard; you don't see international players in League 1.'"
I agree with you and personally think SL is great value for money. But the big difference is there's generally enough football supporters who will buy tickets at what seem like ridiculous prices. Look at the silly prices RUWC tickets have been going for, but nearly every stadium has been full.
We've just had out 4th consecutive season of falling average attendances at the DW, and 2015 was the first time in 10 years we've dropped below 14k. To me enough hasn't been done to turn this round. Sam coming back might put a few on the average gate but we then don't have the home Good Friday game next year which is usually better supported than the derby game later in the season. A lot of fans were annoyed by the London game and I genuinely think that could have a knock on effect on ST sales, plus we've had another nearly-but-not-quite-good-enough trophyless season. If I was IL I'd be more concerned about getting the numbers up and ticket prices should be the first place to look IMO.

| Yeah I can understand that. I'm not typical cos I live a distance away so a season ticket is out of the question, but the price of the ticket is small change for me compared to petrol, hotel bills, etc.

| I Stopped my season ticket after the 2011 season because of 3 main reasons
1 I was unhappy with the signings
2 It was becoming more expensive
3 They kept changing k.o. times and moving games to different days because of WAFC

Sky is a bigger problem for changes to match dates than WAFC ever were or will be .
They pay the wage though .
Season ticket are not value for money for us these days (Thursday's a logistic nightmare) but it needs to be done and will be next season .

| I agree the Thursday night games is the biggest issue the club faces. It's an awful night for the fan that attends games but it's actually a very good night (for me anyway) to watch a game when Wigan aren't playing. Due to that reason I doubt it'll change anytime soon.
As good as this season has been, the crowds haven't been anything to shout about for anybody.

| What I don't like about the tv system is that all clubs get the same t.v money. IMO there should be a "basic" amount that all clubs get and then a top up for the clubs that appear on t.v. At least that way they would be financially compensated for the the loss of spectators (particularly the Thursday games) due to t.v. coverage.
Wasn't that how it was done during the "Grandstand" days on the BBC?
All clubs should have a minimum number of Thursday games.

| First time in 19yrs I won't be renewing. I'm going to pick and choose my games, I know all the diehards will lambast my decision however I need to get my point across to the club and this IMO is the only way.

| Does anyone know whether they've changed the car park numbers? Only 1 & 4 appear to be bookable. What I thought of as 3 behind the east stand can't be bought for next year. Or at least not yet. A call to the ticket office required methinks.

Last year passes for car park 3 only went on general sale after the season ticket renewal deadline as they wanted to check how many passes could be offered for sale.

| Fair enough Rogues. I was told to return after the deadline and didn't check earlier but they wouldn't let me have a pass for car park 3 when I renewed.

| I can't see why there is an above inflation increase or in fact any increase at all.
Wage inflation in SL is ZERO and has been for years because of the salary cap.
In fact with the Sky deal all the SL clubs wages for the first team squad are paid out of the TV money so clubs are better off than they used to be to the tune of at least £600K a season.
There is no way that is being gobbled up by the marquee player.
OK the back room staff may be due a pay rise but of what magnitude!
There is another issue that will probably put people off as well now the fixtures are out. There are no home games after 13th May until 8th July. Nearly two months and most of the regular season home games are biased towards the start of the season.
It's not brilliant for the team's prospects either given our away record this season. Even with a decent away record that would be asking for trouble.
For us that means a season ticket for my son is not viable any more. He is at Uni and so won't be back until after May 13th as it is his final year.

I doubt it's as black and white as that. How do you know our stadium rent hasn't increased? Look at all the ongoing off-field activities we fund, Central Park, London trip, upkeep of Orrell....etc!

It looks deliberate too.
A cursory glance around some of the other teams & even the French aren't away from home more than 2 weeks at a time. Are they digging the pitch up again? Assuming we get to the CC quarters, with an away draw we could be on the road for a full 2 months (give or take a couple of days).
That's got to be draining on the players (if not the traveling army's purses).
Doesn't set us up well for Whinos & the Stains at the end of the regular season.

Why are people acting as though this is new?
This has happened for a number of years now. The pitch is re-laid. This period usually coincides with an upturn in form too.

Just because it happens every year doesn't mean it isn't a problem. It cost us our CC run last year at the very least.

No not being able to turn over Hull KR cost us our CC run. Just like we couldn't turn Cas over the year before (at the DW!)

I'm perfectly aware who the opposition were, just as I'm perfectly aware of how our home record compared to away. Also, HKR weren't in the same league as Cas. Don't you think we would have had a better chance against HKR at home? I'd doubt there's a single coach in SL who wouldn't rather play at home, but that won't cut any ice with those who think the club can do no wrong, and if that cap fits you, wear it.
The truth of the matter is we are at a disadvantage as tenants compared to our rivals who own their own facilities. An inconvenient truth, but true nonetheless.
