The Grand Final means more but the cup is a great day out.

It's just nice to have them both in the bag and hopefully we'll get another crack at Old Trafford.

I reckon I'd have been more disappointed if we'd have lost at Old Trafford last year than on Saturday. I'm glad I never had to find out though

You're not the real champions if you win the CC. I'd rather be champions and be able to sing it proud all season long. I'll be gutted if we don't get to the Grand Final this year and win it.

The Grand Final a better reward for a long season and its a bigger event all together better atmoshpere and at a more atmospheric ground BRING IT ON !!

for me , at this point in time i cant seperate them as its been so long since we lifted either but i understand all the opinions stated

Not sure why exactly but maybe because we have another game the week after winning at Wembley, whereas the Grand Final is the season finale.

We got stung by two young ladies before the game at the car park when they asked us if the kids wanted their faces painted (something which is done for free at the DW), thirty seconds later the kids had a Wigan crest stencilled on each cheek and I was told it would be a fiver....they must have made a fortune as we saw loads with the same design.

Challenge Cup for me, I grew up wanting to score the last minute full lengther against Saints to win it, plus its the best looking trophy in the world by far.

Ordinariliy I'd have said the Grand Final, as last year that felt like a very, very tough trophy to win - the play-offs are colossally intense matches.

But on the occasion of this particular CC, Wigan needed to beat both Warrington and Saints to reach the final. Rarely can there have been tougher cup ties, though of course some teams have got to Wembley meeting no tough opposition en route at all - so I have to say, ultimately, that a Grand Final victory is still the bigger prize

The challenge cup is very very special on a personal level and on a Wigan level but I can understand why people are saying the GF as the atmosphere at Wembley just wasn't quite there on saturday. Had a great day don't get me wrong but for me it was my first time to the new Wembley and as we pulled up I said to my mate, its not wembley. We didn't go down wembley way cos of the weather and just a few little things made it a bit wierd

All that coupled with the fact the the Grand Final was our first for so long - the first for our lad aswell just made teh GF a pretty special day.

If you don't win the GF the CC means dick! This year will be special for you guys but if the pie success goes on for a good few seasons the CC cup becomes very hollow pretty quick! That's what the saints fans will tell you. It's no comfort on GF night if you go home empty handed. I'm over the CC defeat already! It takes me months to get over a GF lose.

I have t say for me it's the Challenge Cup. After 13 years of waiting this was the one I wanted to see in the trophy cabinet.

I'm not taking anything away from the GF.

Just my personal preference.

GF for me. Perhaps even the hub cap first although the least fuss is made about it.

I think ask this just 13/14 years ago, people would have definitely said CC and not thought any different. For me, the CC seems to have taken a backwards step and the GF is the significant trophy. Wire have won the previous 2 CC finals, and yet are still ridiculed for having "no success". The GF, for me, is a bigger occasion and shows the success of a season long performance, as oppose to 5 games, which, unlike this year for Wigan having played Wire, Saints and Leeds, can sometimes be easy, 2nd team games for 2/3 of the 5. The play offs force each team to play at least 1 of the top 4 teams in the campaign to get to Old Trafford.
I'll definitely pick GF without a doubt, I've always thought it would be nice to win the CC but the GF does it for me. Also, a victory over Saints easily beats a victory over Leeds in any situation!

Grand Final for me specially after seeing the club go through some torrid times eg The 2006 relegation battle.

It's a tricky one, having grown up reading the stories of the amazing cup run, Offiahs try and all that, it felt brilliant for me to finally be able to go to Wembley and witness myself Wigan lift the trophy. To me that was a special moment, and one I won't forget, well, ever.

However, I agree with others who have said that the GF if the bigger trophy. Both offer great significance.


On a different note then, I say we just sit back and enjoy the fact we currently hold both, and let fans of other clubs do the worrying at which one they'd rather win.

If the Challenge Cup was against Stains and the GF against Leeds, I may think differently... its always more sweeter to beat the old enemy.
