| Goulding will keep his place if amos plays full back as sam will be back at 6.
If paat plays full back, pryce may come back on to the wing.
Daz did nothing wrong tonight

| He won't be dropped next week! Fair enough he made what, one mistake? and he deserves to be dropped? when there are certain players that make mistakes week in week out and never get dropped, so i think that would be a completely unfair decision. He got some points on the board which is what needs to be done, which is what he always does!
He came close a few times, just because he didn't score then doesn't mean that he is lacking in cofidence or was nervous. I think he played some good rugby tonight and doesn't deserve to be dropped.

| made a couple of errors for me, knock on was a poor one and also missed a couple of tackles.
Pryce was dropped for less after the Wakefield. It will be an interesting selection next week.
For what its worth I do not think he had a bad game at all, i just think at the moment both are so close to each other in getting the shirt the smallest error costs them.

| I cant believe threads like this that appear on here. I cant say I am surprised though that Jonh has decided to single out his favourite scapegoat again. It is funny how when Goulding plays well Jonh never comments on him or compliments him. The moment he has an average game he starts threads like this. It is pathetic. The biggest laugh at all though is that he complains if anyone singles out and criticises Pryce
No Goulding wont be dropped at all next week. He was certainly no worse than many of the other players and did nothing wrong. Our back 3 certainly looks much better with him in the team. If Pryce had played like that then Jonh certainly wouldnt have started a thread like this and some posters would be all excited about his work rate and the metres and tackle busts that he made.
Maguire will pick whoever he considers to be his best team. However no matter what I cant see Pryce getting picked next week. Pryce had his chance and was given a good run of games but unfortunately for him he blew it. He showed absolutely no reason why he should get another shot and I suspect that is why Pryce has been left out of the 19 man squad the last 2 weeks with Marsh and Charnley included instead.

If Amos is fit and Maguire continues with Tomkins at fullback, neither Goulding or Pryce will play.
I wouldn't continue with Tomkins at fullback personally but I have the feeling Maguire might and it has to be said Deacon had a decent game today.

| Alot will depend on the fitness of McIlorum and Roberts.
If both are fit then Goulding could well miss out because Deacon played pretty well tonight.

That'll depend on McIlorum's injury. We might need TL at hooker, with Deacs & Sam in the halves.
Good as Sam played, I still prefer him at #6, simply because he sees more of the ball there.

Calm down I actually stated I think Goulding had a good game and am happy to have him here next year in several other threads.
I think your reaction speaks pretty clearly about your views and who is actually a scapegoat.
Pryce was dropped for being caught out of position vs Wakefield on 2 occasions in defence, other than that he has a good game. Goulding had a good game but made 2 or 3 errors also, so with both of them being clearly so close in selection policy of the coach, the question I posed is will he be dropped next week.
If the coach is consistent for me yes, but time will tell, and if he is not I think it will be a real sign of who is at the forefront in the race to be a long term Wigan player between Pryce and Goulding, as I doubt both will be.

I believe Pryce was dropped for a poor attitude and I think that is the main reason why players get dropped. Not for the odd mistake.

I don't believe it is down to errors for any player (unless they are really bad) but attitude. I think of the two Goulding is by far the more enthusiastic and looks far more committed than Pryce does. I think that will earn Goulding more Browney points.
My own view is IL told Madge to give Pryce a fair go of a few games to have a look what he thought and Pryce failed to impress so got dropped.

| I am liking the look of Sam at full back. Give him another month or so there as he will only get better IMO. Roberts once he is fit can rediscover his full match fitness, confidence and form on the wing and review the situation in a month or so.
Sam chiming in at pace from deep is quite simply terrifying for the oppositions defence and utilises Sam's excellent running game to its potential.

| Goulding has rarely had a poor game, always looks like giving his all, (everyone in team makes a few mistakes per game) as for pryce well, yes he has scored a few tries but look at the tries only one against saints needed to be scored the rest were simply catch the ball and fall over line, I find that pryce loses interest too easily especially when things not going his way, and how many times when we are getting beat does he suddenly get injured? Darrell before Karl everytime for me

| I think that there is very very little to chose between them in the coaches eye which is why we are seeing them switched for selection so often.
Pryce did not have a poor game vs Wakefield 2 positional errors I feel cost him his place, Goulding had a good game vs Les Cats but came up with a couple of unforced errors.
Other players can make errors because they are more established in the team, these 2 are vying for the same spot and neither can get a decisive foothold in it, which is why I feel these basic errors cost them a spot.
I think it will be very interesting to see who is selected for the Salford game (assuming both are fit).

I dont understand what you mean when you say Pryce's positional errors at Wakefield cost him his place because he played the week after against St Helens

That could be true. Pity Ainscough doesn't get the same "clean slate" treatment.

Apologies it came down to 2 weeks in a row Wakefield and Saints where he made the same positional errors only very subtle ones but they were repeated errors.
I feel Goulding is doing lots right but again he was guilty of the same errors on Sunday.
I also wonder what the injury to Pryce and more recently Goulding will play in selection.
