i dont know if gelling got stood up particularly in defence, so why not try gelling at with carmont on the wing.

Had a stinker. Still quality running the ball back though. His positioning needs work, that is all.

with all due respect his finishing is god damn awful! wingers or centres should finish for fun, it is defence and positioning that need work. Gelling cant finish and has failed to score simply try's over and over again.

Gave him MOTM a few weeks back, but needs a stint in the reserves, shocking in attack tonight.

Thought he was man of the match material against HKR a couple of weeks back, but he's followed it up with a couple of stinkers really. Looks a very, very good athlete though, so hoping the consistency in his play will come with experience and coaching. Wane looked less than impressed when Sky cut to him after the errors tonight and I guess we've got other young lads to give chances to, but if the team keeps winning, it's all valuable game time for him without impacting negatively on the results end.

He's got fantastic potential, he just needs the game time.

The more he plays outside George the more they become a partnership.

when he went in touch he should have committed to the outside or tried to go through brough, but then in drier conditions he probably would have stayed in.

I don't think they are jelling at all, and that's part of the problem.

I certainly don't think he is a winger either, he's being played out of position.

I feel for him every time he gets the ball; he over thinks far too much and this is knocking his confidence. I have seen plenty enough from him to suggest that there is something very positive for the future, but he needs a little luck. Perhaps a couple of weeks practising kicking the ball between the sticks will cure the only 2 problems we have.

Think they should put him on the bench (for Tuson).

I think it's only right to pull him out of the fire now for a couple of weeks. He's showed glimpses of pure quality but he just looks to be losing a little confidence and we don't need to push him.

Long term I'm convinced we've found a gem but I'd give another excellent youngster in Ryan King a shot next week.

The best news in all this is hopefully Pemps' long search for a new scapegoat is finally over!

Goulding and McIlorum have ballsed everything up for me. I think I'll stick with Eric for the time being though.

Unfortunately some of Gelling's basic skills are nowhere near SL level yet and it's only a matter of time before it costs us.

He's going to be a top quality player.

The sooner Wigan fans realise he's a work in progress and not the finished article the better.

Just like Lockers, Hansen, Radders, Faz etc did when they were young he's gonna make mistakes.

I just wish others can see the potential that some posters on here can see in him.

He runs the ball back very well and he seems to have a great set of hands at times but he's a fish out of water on the wing. He looks indecisive when he can see the try line.

I'm totally willing to give him a chance but I would like to see him in the centres at some point.

Good to see the majority of people arent getting on his back after a poor performance today. It didnt cost us anything and he will learn well from it. Whats obvious to anyone though is that he isnt a winger in the memory of man, I cant wait to see him given a go at centre but mean while hes getting vital experience there. Carmont needs to start looking where he is passing before he just throws it anywhere though. It works with Pat because they have been working together for about 5 years. The only thing wrong with Gelling IMO is inexperience.

Get behind the lad, still fairly new to how the first team play and he is going to make mistakes. The last thing he needs is fans getting on his back that will do sweet FA for his confidence.

this is going to sounds arrogant but in another team where fewer chances were made for him he wouldnt stand out out as much as he wouldnt be given so many try scoring opportunities to fluff up.

I mentioned his indecisiveness near the line, early on in this thread a couple of weeks ago after the Hull KR game. He looks a bit like a rabbit in the headlights at times. Like you say good go forward and he runs it in hard when helping out the forwards but the amount of errors (and basic ones at that) are mounting, especially after the 6 last week in the cup as well.

He needs to work on a lot of things at the moment to make him a more solid and reliable player - As I mentioned earlier in the thread I hope King gets some game time while Pat is out.
