Surely there's some incentive to have him released early other than a fee.

Matty Smith is a good solid player who wont let you down, he is a definite step down from TL but if you pair him with a good exciting 6 with Tomkins at 1 then he should do the job. I do wonder if the rumours of other clubs including Saints being interested in him was just the usual politics clubs and agents play to force up the asking price, and if so how much cap have you used on him . (i.e how much do you have to spend on trying to find a Finch replacement)

Amos Roberts' wages will have gone on Smith. We will still have Finch, Lima, Leuluai, Carmont and probably Fielden's to spend on any recruits for 2013.
