I was more making the point that, as i also said in the original post, There are players playing in SL now who have achieved massive amounts more than Sam Tomkins and played at a higher level for much much longer.

Which given his age how short a time Sam Tomkins has been in the Wigan first team is a bit of a moot point.

Not really, it is an important one.

It makes a clear differentiation on what Tomkins has actually achieved to what others have achieved and what Tomkins has the potential to achieve. Tomkins has the potential to be the best back of his generation (i find it pointless to compare backs and forwards) but he isnt yet because others have played for longer at a higher level.

If Tomkins carries on improving and keeps his performances consistent he can be the best back of his generation, but he hasnt done that yet, and others have.

Got to say Sam's being a little silly posting stuff like this on Twitter. He really should keep meetings with people involved in Rugby Union to himself as even if it's all innocent a fuss will now always kick up.

I don't have as much of a problem with this meeting as I did when he tweeted about his last trip to London. The difference being that this time I presume he's based in London with the England squad compared to his last jolly in the capital when he went there and back in a day only 2 days before a play off semi against Saints when he should have been resting.

We can bury our heads in the sand all we like on this issue but he's cleary got some big decisions to make.
