| Quote ="tank123"With the comment made by Priestman about clubs going under if Wigan went under hes not far wrong. Fact is most RL players in SL are produced in the Wigan area. But that would not put any other club out of business if Wigan suddenly go under. But we take on average roughly 3k or more supporters to most if not all away games every season. That for a club like Salford, Crusaders, Quins, Cas etc is some serious amount of money. Like in 2006 we struggled but still took 3k to away games and even our home attendances went up during that season. When Wire were in the bottom half of the table not even bottom 2 your home attendances dropped. And it amazes me that people call Saints, Wigan and Leeds glory hunters when Wire is the biggest example of this.
SL needs Wigan far more than most clubs. Only Saints and Leeds i think has done as much for the finances of all tyhe clubs since SL started. As if they struggle attendances for home and away will hold firm for all other clubs they will drop.'" Apologies if this has been mentioned because i couldn't be bothered reading through 9 pages of wire/wigan d1ck measuring again. However, in 2006 when saints won everything and wire finished 4th, warrington had the higher ave attendance (not by much!) so who are the glory hunters because there was no glory to be hunted at warrington.

| Quote ="THEOriginalWire"As i said, i haven't supported a thing that Wirewonder said, and i have called him out before on our board. As have many others, but then again i don't see why that matters to you.
Don't think that wirewonder is the only troll on RLfans, you have a few that infest our boards too, and then when some of the ones who want to actually have a real discussion on here like myself, you decide to take the high road and label us all as such. I have not supported nor will i ever support Wire Wonder, he is an embarassing troll, and as i already pointed out, he is probably not even a warrington fan. But let's see how you twist it this time?'"
I accept that you are, and have previously been, calling him what he is - a true embarrassment to the name of Wire - but I still find it odd that you've found time on this thread to respond to Wiganers who are irritated by him, but not to respond to him directly, call him a tool and tell him to stop dragging your club down.
I can't comment on those trolls you suffer on your board, because I'm not one of them and I don't go there.
Everyone has different views about the importance of the CC. You'll notice, I hope, that until now I've not been participating in that part of the discussion. I still love the cup and am jealous of Wire's recent success, but as others have said, it's a bit daft some idiot from Warrington (WW, I mean) trying to use it as a weapon against us when we already have a history in that competition which will never be matched.
This WW character, and others like him, are doing you guys no favours. They've succeeded in turning endless threads on this particular board into dik-measuring contests, and real conversationalists get swept up in the increasingly acrimonious exchanges that always follow. You ought to tell them - every time they shout about how much they revile and disdain Wigan, it just makes Wiganers realse even more that what they actually feel about the cherry and white is envy, fear and deep insecurity.

How about when Saints beat the rest of the top 6 (think it was 2006)?
The CC is the most prestigious trophy in the game. I have a feeling you'd change your mind if we won it.

| I'd much rather win a trophy that's been around since 1897 rather than the Super League trophy that's only been around since 1996.
The SL has a long way to go before it matches the CC.

And to win that prestigious trophy eight times in a row is even more impressive. CC is a great tropy to win, but nowadays SL is the one everyone wants to win.

Yeah it was impressive........til it's remembered Wigan were the only totally professional club at the time playing against mainly amauters.
I thnk even Rochdale Hornets would have won it 8 times on the bounce under those circumstances!

The level of self-delusion you're indulging in, sonny, is quite astounding even by Wire troll standards.

Positive.
Wigan's professionals were always going to beat teams which had players getting up for work at 5am,doing a full shift then going out to play rugby later.

Nope.
Was took to my first Wire game in November 1984. Wire 14 Saints 20. Check the history books.

Sure they would ... if it was true that they were all full-time professionals, which it isn't.
As you're so fond of history books, look up the exact date when Wigan, as a club, turned full-time professional, and then compare and contrast with the dates during which Wigan won the CC eight times in a row.
And here's a tip - don't come back until you get it right, or you'll leave yourself open to even more ridicule.

I remember going with my Aunty/Uncle and Cousin (all wigan fans) in either 93 or 94, thousands of wigan fans all lined up on Warrington road for the victory parade, i think it was v Leeds (don't quote me on that). From there up to Central park again thousands there. I don't know how many you'd won then but it was obviously important to all those fans, even after all those previous cups.
I understand the GF is a lot more important but don't rubbish the cup just because it's Wire. I never rubbished it when it was Wigan winning it.'"
I think you'll find this is one person's view and I'm sure I can safely speak for the many thousands of Wigan fans who would disagree with this view and would love nothing better than a trip to Wembley this year, my 9 year old son who has never seen us win the CC included!
