hmm having lived in Skem for 23 years I still see a lot more wigan shirts out and about than I do Latics shirts, the vast majority of football fans I know locally are Liverpool or Everton fans and its pretty rare that I see any other shirts around the town. I see too many Wigan shirts around though, and this seems to have increased in the past 5 years for some reason.

I know of one of two people who support other clubs but have latics season tickets are they are easier to get/cheaper but thats about it.

Have to agree with this, I live in the Old Town at Skem, and have never seen a Latics shirt anywhere, with the depth of Liverpool and Everton feeling and support here, they would be too embarrased maybe to put their colours on, and I reckon I can understand that!!!!!

Ahhh...takes me back to that night at the fans forum. Eee we did chuckle.

Was walking the dog last week wearing my Wigan top and a little chavtastic car with two lads wearing latics tops give me the sticks and shout out the window I simply kissed my badge at them, I am now firmly behind Latics getting relegated.

I have no problem at all whatsoever with anyone walking around Wigan with a Latics top on, they are wearing their hometown team's shirt.
What I do take exception to is having snide remarks made to me or my young kids when wearing Wigan RL shirts around Wigan which has happened a couple of times recently. Wouldn't mind if I was walking around Warrington, St Helens or even Leigh but, again it's our home town FFS....!!!
And for this reason, the days of Latics playing Canvey Island again can't come soon enough.

Best one that happened to me was when i was in town with my wigan shirt on. and this chav came over started singing if you hate wigan thugby..all i could do was laugh because he was wearing a latics top and a man utd baseball cap

Last week about 7.00pm one night my lad, aged 12 got out of a relatives car on Wallgate to post a letter at the GPO. He was wearing his Wigan shirt. A fat bloke in his 50's staggered out of a pub and threatened to f-ing tear his throat out if he didn't take that f-ing shirt off. Big man.

Funny how a lot of these stories involve threats made by adults against little kids. There appears to be a concerted effort from some scumbag latics cowards to make Wigan RL fans reluctant to show their colours in public.

My lad, from having a somewhat open mind towards Latics now has an entrenched opposition towards them. And they wonder why Wiganers don't get behind them in numbers and why only 12,000 home fans turned up to watch them in their biggest game of the season against United.

I can only say that I haven't noticed much of this. I see as many Wigan RL shirts as I see Latics shirts.

The colours stat that really amuses me is the number of Latics shirts I see around town - usually in places like Tesco - when Latics are playing at home.



You can tell by the gormless expressions on most of their faces that they don't even realise the club whose colours they are wearing has got a game.
