Bobby Goulding a bit later
Nigel Wright was signed after Edwards I think

I meant Murdoch when I wrote Crompton!!
So as Grimmy says due to SC we didn't need to have 3 or 4 halves hanging around in the squad just in case.
Other than Williams, when did we last produce a true top quality half? The sort you would pay to watch? Hoping the talk of Lam introducing new attacking structure and the players loving it are true, along with Widdop..

| Ashley Taylor has been mentioned to me. Would be a decent signing it it turns out to be him.
Bags of ability and natural talent decent kicking game and can kick a goal as well.

| I thought Ash Taylor had signed a new deal until the end of 2021. I agree he would be a great signing, just not sure how valid the rumour is.

| Agreed Melbourne it does seem like one out of left field but I don’t think it is totally inconceivable although I agree it’s unlikely.
Would be exactly the type of player we need.
Just a rumour though that is floating around, again no substance to it.

| Anybody but Sammut really.
Maurice Lindsay had to rapidly backtrack when he announced Nathan Woods (during the 'sign anybody who has one decent game against us' era - I'm looking at you Lee Hansen) and this forum exploded. Don't know how effective that would be now though.

I am sure that isn't the case anymore and was why he left Workington. He did an interview saying if he was to go part time he would do his fire service training.
With regards Ash Taylor he would be a great signing. Always thought he was back on the radar to go back to Brisbane but hes been made a bit of a scapegoat at times due to his contract size. But at still only 23 can't see him over here. I do hope for all your sanity it isn't Sammut. Would be a very cheap signing and a bit desperate looking

| Thanks Jonh, I do hope you are right. As Thepimp007 says he was on the Broncos radar to go back there. Maybe that has changed with Bennet not being there beyond 2019. If we did pick him up I think it would be one of the biggest coups for SL this winter. Just as significant a signing as Blake Austin and Trent Merin. Unless George is going at the end of 2019 I can’t see Taylor and Widdop coming. As Thepimp007 also mentioned he is on a decent amount, so he wouldn’t come here for buttons. Fingers crossed.
With regard to Sammut, I watched The Million Pound Game and he led the Broncos around the park really well and kept them calm. Every player, from both sides, was panicking and trying to win the game on their own at the end. He kept the Broncos on their game plan and talked to every player when the dropped the ball or wen off script. He was a genuine leader on the park. Once he was one of those players you wouldn’t have because of his off-field behaviour. Maybe that has changed. While it might be underwhelming I don’t think it would be as bad as some are making out.

If it’s Sammut I just don’t get it, I don’t think he’s as good as Leuluai. His kicking game may be better, but his defence is definitely much worse.

I watched that game, and I agree, I thought he was terrific. How much weight to attach to that? Who knows.

| According to Lam at the sportsman’s dinner tonight, Lachlan definitely not coming and Widdop has changed his mind and will stay in the NRL. He has very high hopes for Williams who in Lam’s opinion isn’t anywhere near his potential.

I was there too, what did you make of his comments about bearing with them for 7 weeks? Concerning or just realistic? I wish people had asked him better questions rather than wasting his time with "Did Cowie pass you the ball?" and "Will we beat Saints?". Empty vessels make the loudest noises

| It was me that asked about our next scrum half and he gave a bit of a politician’s answer and just talked about how good Williams could become. I agree some of the questions were a bit meaningless but that the way those things sometimes go. You should have asked him something if u thought they were rubbish!
I think his 7 weeks comments were valid to be fair. If he is changing our attack and doesn’t get the international players back for a few more weeks then I suppose they’ll need a few weeks. Add to that the bad weather through to spring and it’s probably realistic that the flamboyant style he wants to play will improve as the weather does.
How bad was that comedian by the way?

I’d honestly be gutted. I saw an interview in an RL paper where Sammut said he’d turned his back on another shot at Superleague for personal reason. I hope he was telling the truth!

Yours was the question I would have asked. I liked how you phrased it too, made it clear that Sammut isn't really a suitable heir to the shirt! Yeah I like comedy but found myself staring at my watch and waiting for the raffle most of the time when the comedian was on. Good to see all the volunteers etc getting recognition, Barclays contribution was impressive.
