| Having a shocker is harry smith, two wrong option's in attack, then a bad missed tackle leading to two tries conceded

| He’s one of our own Smith and you want him to do well but a four year contract was crazy. I think he’s one of the poorest halfbacks in the league from what we’ve seen this year. You can reel off at least 10 names before you’d get to wanting him controlling a team.

| Few mistakes granted but I think some are being a bit harsh on Smith. He’s gaining confidence minute but minute, game by game. I’m yet to be fully convinced mind but I’m nowhere near writing him off.
O’Neill on the other hand; superb first half. It just leaves me wondering why we’ve waited so long to give him a game. His distribution from the ruck has been brilliant.
Ellis is having a good game as well, we really have missed his presence. I am worried about our centres though, there just doesn’t seem to be any strike there at all and if we shift it out wide instead of our centres creating space or hitting a gap, we’re looking to Field to do that for us.

Was interesting to see Smith run the line of the second rower and swap with Farrell. I just don’t get it with him. He’s a solid/average half back.
Our centres I think we have to accept we can only get so far this year until the crazy squad building over the last few years has been corrected.

| Some better play from Smith later on in the half. A mixed bag from O'Neill as well - some smart play around the ruck but caught out of position in defence a few times. It'll be a learning process and they'll have the opportunity to improve knowing they'll be starting for the next few weeks.

| The whole shape of the team looks off. From the timing of runners to the actual set up of each set. We aren’t getting the right width on each side of the pitch for runners to use space.

| Doesn’t help with O’Neill being off and Shorrocks in at hooker. Is it really that difficult to put players in positions they play in? The ruck distribution has gone to pot and our decent offense with it.

| Shorrocks isn’t good enough to play in any position for us if we want to even consider a challenge in the future. He’s a good squad filler at best.

Some of the lowest skill levels amongst the league. Constant reliance on French/Field magic is all we’ve got.

| Field has bombed two tries with poor passes behind the man. Very frustrating game whether we win, lose, or draw it.
Then Field goes and does that

| Great to get through that with the win. Sometimes there are games when you don't click but we got away with it.

We did and it certainly made for a spectacle for the neutral fan. But for us there’s much improvement to be had in D and attack, too many individual mistakes that we need to have right going against an improved Warrington team next Friday

I thought we looked tired more than anything. Saints probably did the right thing on Friday - I wonder if Peet will rest a few next week.

Can’t see that v Warrington and for us can we afford to rest on bulk like Saints did? I’m not sure. A few days off might do us the world of good. It’s not ideal going into another huge game but I don’t think resting players is a viable option to be honest

| Very good for neutral's and channel four viewers. Wigan had chances to wrap the game up earlier but full credit to Salford who looked a good side on this display.

| There’s long been talk that the game that can do you is the one the week after Easter and it looked to very nearly be the case. We’ve got points in us and try’s from anywhere on the field are possible with French and Field. We’re a work in progress for sure but at least we’re that. I can see things working and some things to really work on but at least we’ve progressed from last season.

| To me it looked liked two tired teams who could score but weren't all that keen on defending, probably a great game for neutrals and the right result for us, all about recovery now for next week against Wire who look like they're finding a bit of form at last.

| It was a fatigued performance. Not sure if it came across on TV but very clear at the game that the players were running on empty. It's beginning to look like a masterstroke from Woolf.

| Well at least it's not boring! An entertaining game, but we need to be a lot better than that. I thought French should have taken that pass from Field, although it was a bit behind him. But then he deserved s try for that wonderful run in the second half. Salford were a threat going forward, but their defence was terrible, worse than ours. Couple of those first-half tries looked ridiculously soft. I thought Shorrocks did OK at dummy-half, and it's fair enough not to expect O'Neill to do the full 80. Ellis looked good again.

| I posted earlier on in the week that we've not earned the right to rest half a team. I think today proved that and whilst we have depth, I don't think it's as great as some say.
There's plenty of positives for this side, but there's lots of hard choices that need to be made before we'll be properly challenging for stuff.
