The lad was distraught by the looks of him and in a way thats great to see.

He has a winners attitude and would just like a few more of the more senior players to follow his lead. I thought he did pretty well again tonight to say he was playing on the back of a monstered pack.

Same goes for Richards.

I feel sorry for Sam

Hes come into the team probably thinking hes surround by top players who will look after him and let him find his feet

but no, hes stuck in the middle of a beaten team and is trying to much on his own

to me on like the 75th minute the team was in catalans 30m line, they looked to me as though thy didnt want to even play on, im sorry but if your losing by 20 or 200 points you play till th end and show pride in the badg of the club your reprsenting....

I wish all the players were the same. Newton was the same when we missed out on a trophy, more players should be like this and actually feel a strong emotion towards success and failure. Instead of this passive attitude that alot seem to be showing.

Today the Wigan lads (Ainscough, Tomkins, Hansen, Oloughlin and Gleeson) looked like they were trying, alot of the others, sadly I cant say the same for.

I'd be on the floor sobbing after a preformence like that from a mixture of hurt and frustration the alot of the other lads attitudes!

Compare Sams situatuon with Eastmond at that club the other side of Billinge Hill.

Eastmond is being protected by the likes of Cunningham, Peteula, Cayless, Wilkin etc - who are all big forwards who create a platform in the oppostion half for him to operate in.

To an extent, the backs protect him and help him, Gidley and Wellens in particular from what ive noticed in games.

Sam has got Hock, O'Loughlin and his big brother looking to protect and create a platform for him. Most games the majority of our forwards arent even visable on the field. Mr Ainscough helps Sam out more than Fielden, Feka and Coley most games when were in our own half sadly.

Tomkins isn't getting the application and protection he should be from the senior professionals at the club.

You could see how much he was hurting when he scored that try. He deserves better.

Cant belive someone is attempting to say Sam Tomkins doesnt have the desire to play for Wigan Rugby. The lad will be really hurting about this defeat.

Was suprised to see Sam, niggle all night, threw a few cheap shots when he had the opportunity, looked totally out of sorts and character.

Ironically I've heard Nobby comment on Fielden. And he continues to pick him week in week out.

Wonder what his take is on Fielden?

Pat still looked like he wasn't fit, Tomkins, quite pleasingly looked gutted.

Funnily enough, this was commented on in the pub tonight.

However, rather than saying that his looking gutted was "unprofessional" or other such b0ll0cks, we were pleased that he wanted to win so badly that he couldn't bring himself to celebrate a consolation try.

Quite rightly too, imo.

If we had 17 lads who felt that way, we'd be doing a hell of a lot better than we are right now I think.

(Plus he copped a fair old smack in the mush on his way through for that try, which probably didn't help)

poor lad he was charging about the field trying to tackle everything and trying to inspire our aussies at one time he was on some big forwards back and getting no help at all.

That JOKER is holding OUR club to ransom and will do so as long as his contract is in place, the only alternative i can see is a swap with Wigan taking a massive hit on the wages until the end of his contract but at least we will be able have a prop that isnt a money grabbing coward (and yes i would say that to his face)

We were all talking about this in the pub too, definitely looked like he was about to cry. And to be fair I always think Fielden looks incredibly gutted when we lose or he does something wrong, like he can't understand why he's so rubbish.

As a former Wigan season ticket holder, now living in Perpignan, I look back at the wonder years of the late 80s early 90s when Wigan had players like Edwards and Gregory who had a real pride in the shirt. Yesterday I saw only Tomkins and Ainscough who had that sort of commitment. As for Paleaaesina
I don't see the point in playing him. If he breaks the line he needs someone on his heels to pass to. He is not really fit enough to play for more than ten minutes at a time.

To me it didn't look like they couldn't be @r$ed just they were distraught and gutted with the result.

I was however more pi55ed off to see so many happy smiling relaxed faces on some of the pack immediately at the final whistle as they chatted and shook hands with Catalans. If Sam and Pat were gutted why do some of the others not go through the same emotions of disappointment and let down??
