I thought the award is supposed to be for the stand out performer in the whole league? Not who is best in the showers or who is an all round good egg. If people seriously think that Tomkins is the only player that has done a bit of niggling then they are more deluded than I thought. Not just that but why is Chase also rated in front of Roby? This is a ridiculous thread and sums up what's been happening on this Site for a while now. The award was voted for by the players, including the Wigan players, and Chase was the winner. Unfortunately Wigan players can't win everything and the SL players as a whole decided that Rangi Chase was the stand-out player for this season, end of story.
Wire fans think we should have been Club of the Year, but it was given to the Catalans, who have made tremendous progress this year, and most of us accept that. Get out of the Goldfish bowl and realise that there is more to the game than Wigan.

I agree with your first sentence, the site is full of fans from other boards who don't read threads, make things up and are obsessed with Wigan. If you'd actually bothered to read the thread you'll see a few who are moaning, the rest are pretty much not bothered about it. Considerably less whinging has gone on in this thread than that on the Wire board when no Wire player was on the shortlist.

As most have said, I think Sam OR ROBY should have won it above Chase, nothing to do with Wigan. Of course it's voted for by the players, doesn't mean we have to agree with them. I actually think M Monas should have been in the 3 above Chase.

IMO Tomkins has one nothing since Wembley and even then he didn't play particularly well - in fact, some aspects of his play were starting to really get on my wick. So not surprised in the slightest that he didn't win, especially if it's voted for by the players. More surprised that Roby didn't win but i suppose Chase has carried his team for most of the year...

A forum is all about people voicing/exchanging opinions and as long as theres no personal abuse etc there isnt really a problem is there?. Its like anything some things you will agree with and some you wont. Chase winning was a farce imo but thats just my opinion. That doesnt mean its wrong or right its just what I feel.

Ive got chocolate medals worth more than the Albert Goldthorpe. Like ive said earlier in the thread RE the MOS its just my opinion. You are obviously gonna disagree because your a Cas fan, thats only natural.

Of course you have, medals i mean, its funny how it was a big thing (the goldthorpe) when it looked like sam was gonna win it.

What is always more controversial than who the award actually goes to is the process itself for me.

Are players really the best judge of who has had the most significant impact on the competition? Do the players have time to watch every round of Superleague and analyse opposition players week in week out?

As i understand it players tend to focus on who their opposition is for the next game (some don't even do that!) and many won't even bother to watch highlights from other games played on the same day or weekend.

Im not sure what the solution is to giving the award more credibility but perhaps some kind of recognised points system would be an improvement similar to the AG medal winner.

Well done to Chase, Roby and Tomkins who have all haD sensational seasons for their clubs - im just not convinced that the players are best placed to decide who wins the MOS.
