It’s a great shame that a player has to retire aged 27. Reading his comments regarding constant pain and just trying to make it though the week in training I wonder if it would be better for him if it were immediate rather than the end of the season. I hope finishing the season off doesn’t cause any further long term damage.

Some of his tries stick out but even in defeat I loved his one in the GF against Leeds where he just outmuscled Ryan Hall to score.

Was one of the best wingers in the league 2015/2016 IMO.

His bravery and performances in 2018 will forever be remembered.

Should’ve been a superstar but it wasn’t meant to be. I really pray he can get fit enough this season to go out in the right way. We’ve been hit and miss (more miss) this season and hopefully this news can galvanise everyone because he deserves to go out in a good manner.

What I wanted to say.

Good luck for the future Dom. This can be a cruel game. Battled through some horrendous injuries and deserves better. On his day there was no better winger in superleague.

I'm sure most will remember Doms performance against Saints away in 2016 - he really was unstoppable in that game.

It seems the right decision on his part when you hear him saying how much pain he’s in. The lad could’ve been one of the very best in the world in his position but it wasn’t meant to be. I really hope he can manage the issue enough to at least be able to turn out a few more times for us and to get a good send off from the fans.

Could have been the best winger in the game but for injures. The 2018 grand final, was gutted to lose but happy he scored and played the way he did, he was one of the likable Wigan players.

Add to that the way they "Stood by" Mike Gregory in his time of need and you can probably work out why for the next 2years we were basically up **** creek and there was such bad vibes etc around the club

Very good player and very unlucky with the injuries. Wish him well, as his body has to last him the rest of his lifetime, which is something most spectators don't appreciate. I'm sure he's made the right long term decision, but hope you see turn out before this years done. Players like Manfredi deserve a proper send off from their supporters.

Pre injury Manfredi and Johnstone were SL best wingers by an absolute mile. Such a shame for both.
