Hoffman was again top draw. He may have meant Finch if he's been reading some of the numpties comments on here but again he'd be wrong because Finch controlled the game for us today and was very good.

As for Kear he has come out after the game and given Wigan praise. He's come out with some ridiculous stuff in the past 12 months but fair play for that.

I think Finch was much improved but he still offers nothing in attack at the moment but he was clearly setting up the moves and our lines were much better today.

Kear is still an idiot but he is right to praise us, we controlled the game from start to finish. Had we been more clinical the scoreline could have been 50+... we blew alot of chances to score.

Meanwhile, Wakefield coach John Kear was forced to reshuffle his line-up from the side that beat Castleford on Friday.

Josh Griffin, Julien Rinaldi, Liam Higgins and Frankie Mariano all failed fitness tests, however Kear was pleased with the performance of his team despite failing to get off the mark.

"I thought Wigan's defence was magnificent and Sam Tomkins was sensational," he said.

"It was as if he had a force field around him. But I was really pleased from my team's point of view.

"It was tough to back up and we were probably playing the most mentally tough team in the competition.

"I thought we asked some questions and half opened them up but I thought Wigan were superb."

Just a pity some of the Wakey speccies couldnt be more sensible.

We were stood behind the sticks by the corner flag and all the Wakey fans were shouting for forward passes and offsides from 50 yards and some bright spark proclaimed Lockers was always offside in every game.

Then there was the bloke behind me who to impress his girlfriend shouted to the Wakey players to break Sam's legs. When I pointed out that was big of him he claimed Sam always injures players with his knees.

Most pleasing aspect for me

The try we conceeded there last year was really scrappy aswel.. so to record a big fat huge zero today is a massive achievement in any game against any team.

Id take winning 1-0 every week if our defence could be as solid as we know it can be from last year. Big scores mean nothing unless you can back them up..

Another reason to blame Maguire, Finch and Hoffman then

After the likes of the Leeds and Catalans games we have to be pleased with that, nilling any team is a difficukt task.

Not just the nil, but the way we defended for our lives to keep it that way even after the game was won.

I think Kear has almost redeemed himself with the comments this time round he speaks as a humble sporting loser defeated and understandably happy with his sides effort something he should have said last year but I will take it a year late.

Glad wigan are getting the respect they deserve its also nice to see sporting coaches that aren't being bitter in defeat.

Had he half a brain in his head, he might have realised that constantly making injudicious comments about Wigan was only likely to wind us up for the next time we met his team. You'd have thought Leeds would have realised the same thing, but it seems there are plenty of slow learners over in Yaaarkshire.

He's probably after Stevo's job and thinks that he may need to appear unbias, don't know why? Stevo never has.

I think we could have played all night and not conceeded a try. Wakey looked lost for ideas and Wigans defence was solid.

Wakey rested several players, but if they want to blame anyone they should blame the parasites who picked over their bones at the start of the season and stole some of their better players.

No need to apologise. Yes he sounded bitter and made himself look foolish but if they're his views then so be it. I know what he was trying to get at but he said it all wrong and out of context. Wigan play closer to the edge than any other team and seem to know how to do this the best. If you get away with it fair play it's up to the others to either combat these tactics or master the same art equally as well
