That's pretty disgusting by any standards.
In my experience of similar events occurring over here in the 1970s, the coaching staff and parents of the offending teams were often to blame for havng encouraged the attitude.
Not saying that's what's happened here, but those thugs celebrated when they came off the pitch as if they knew they weren't going to face any serious consequences from their own camp.
They're only young, but a couple of lifetime bans might not be inappopriate in those circs, to send out a warning to other would-be hoodlums.

I've been like a giddy school girl all day, really looking forward to Wednesday when it'll be official.
I really think that McGuire along with Wane are the right combination to take us to where we want to be, we'll have to be patient while the right processes and people are put in place but I'm sure the days of signing the wrong players and making the wrong decisions are behind us.

Otherwise I could be in for a lot of flack if he's a spectacular failure. If that were the case I'd just have to blame it on Piggy and Amos saying they were uncoachable.

The comments from the fans under that article are embarrassing, to those fans: how did you feel in 2007 when we lost 3 of our 4 opening games, got battered by catalan in the cc semi final and scraped into the 6? or How about 2008 when we were taking batterings off saints, 46-10 and 57-16. This years not been much different, winning just 3 of our opening 10 matches of the season, losing to Celtic Crusaders away, yet again losing 2 semi finals, we are NOT progressng anymore, we have under Noble yes but he has took us as far as he can and thats why he is going. We need a change of fresh ideas and someone with exciting tactics because Nobles doesnt fit this team anymore. Im sick of seeing Wigan fans criticising the fact that hes gone because as much as hes done for this club, he's held us back at times this year.

I felt a whole lot better losing the 2007 CC than I did getting beat by Salford the year before and being 8 points adrift at the foot of the league!
I felt a whole lot better than I did in 2005 losing 69-0 & 75-0 in consequtive weeks IIRC.
I feel a whole lot better than I did when we lost 9 of our 1st 10 and didn't look like we had a win in us.
I feel a whole lot better than I did when Tim Jonkers, Wayne Macdonald, Jordan James and Oliver Wilkes were lining up for us.
End of the day even those who appreciate what Noble has done in the main agreed it was time to move on.
But if you cannot see that we are WHOLE lot better now than we were 4 years ago and at least acknowledge the many positives of his tenure rather than pick out supposed Failures (Which at 90% of other clubs would actually be seen as Success!) to justify the decision to let him go then I am embarrassed for you.

Why didn't you save your self the trouble of typing all that and just put: "He saved us from relegation in 2006 but did nothing for the next three years."?
As to the bit in bold, no they wouldn't.

Every team other than saints and Leeds would be chuffed if they got to 5 semi finals in 3 years like we have!
Noble saved us in 2006 and we are in a much better state than when he took over!
At times I think he has done fanatastic with the team he has had and through some of the bad times we have had.
To Noble I say thankyou for all he has done.
I hope the new coach comes in and takes us that extra bit further.

Why should we be happy about it though? we should be striving to be where Saints and Leeds are not be happy with where we are now! We'll win sweet FA with that attitude.

No they wouldn't because as IL has said losing 5 semi finals over the last three years isn't good enough. Teams like Hudds and HKR have done well this season because [urelative to where they were [/uthey have improved so they ought to be pleased about that but there is no way on earth any team would be chuffed to be losing 5 semi finals in three years as it represents no improvement.

Everyone acknowledges he saved us in 2006 but are in the same state now as we were at the end of 2007, that's the problem and why he has lost his job.

There is no one more grateful than me we didn't go down in 2006. When people were suggesting it may even be a good thing to clear out the dross I was going ballistic because the implications of the drop are immense. Since then though it's been a frustrating three years. Dragging up 75-0 as was done in the previous post I replied to when coached by a lunatic like Millward and ignoring some dire losses to Hudds and Celtic when supposedly coached by a far more level headed and conservative coach is a bit of a selective view IMO.

| At the end of the day, though, what does getting to a semi-final actually mean?
To me it's just a sign that there was a lot of effort, which is worthy of respect, but that the killer touch was still missing.
Very few remember the losing finalists, but no-one at all remembers the losing semi-finalists. On it's own, it's no achievement whatsoever.
Drawing comfort from getting to a semi is similar to the habit we've got into of being grateful for not being humiliated whenever we play Saints.
This is an innately negative mindset which the new guy can hopefully break.

Because that would be b0ll0cks Dave. He has restructured the club from top to bottom, including an academy and system that was on it's ar$e.
Not only has he done this, but the outstanding training facility at Orrell has a lot to do with Noble. This and his ability to be hard faced nature got the rugby side of the club back on track.
I am a huge fan of wanting Noble to leave, attitudes like that are both blind and disrespectful.

Just what did he have to do with the Orrell facility? You will be telling me next he negotiated the cheap rent on the DW stadium.
Why was the academy system on its ar$e? What was wrong with it and how did he fix it?
It seems Noble did everything except get results.

Noble pushed for us to get a training facility away from the JJB stadium as he viewed the facilities and situation there as not fit for purpose. He may not have stumped up the cash for Orrell but he did cause the process that saw us develop it into the training facility to start. I believe he was also involved in deciding the layout of the training centre at Orrell.
It may not have worked as well as hoped on the pitch but Noble did have a positive impact on the infrastructure of the club.

Not a lot. On the other thread you state you would be happy with a top 4 finish under the new coach. What does coming 4th actually mean? Presumably if we get the top 4 finish you expect we should be reaching the final, as you quite rightly point out reaching semis isn't good enough?

Do you ever attend any of the reserve / academy games?
Have you seen the facilities at Orrell?
Ask any of the players who have come through the junior systems during Nobles tenure if they think that the "systems" have improved.
When Noble arrived the young players were buying their own training kit etc. Noble has been the driving force behind many of the changes that have been made.
