He really has put on so much weight in his time here.
Staggering. This needs sorting for next season before we end up releasing him, some other club snapping him up, he slims down there and they end up with one of the best props in super league. |

He doesn't need to get to that exact level of fitness but I’d prefer him to be closer to that rather than closer to what he looks like now.

At the time of those pictures he was on the verge of the NZ team and now he’s not selected for any national side? Also that weight is closer to the one he was at when he first came to us and imo back then he was a much better player (remember his first game and his 20m sprint for his try! I'm personally hoping for a big step up from Riddell next season, especially as we've now got a guy on board that's been coaching players like Smith and Cronk and probably expects a lot more out of a hooker than either a scooter or a slightly lethargic passer. |

Beware Super League clubs. A quality player no question but the article shows the injury problems he's had throughout his career.
A 3 year deal then he only plays 40 games would be a nightmare for any club.
Super League clubs have, I suspect, realised that they are Rugby Clubs not Australian Offshore Pension Providers.

I agree.
Stefan Marsh has always stood out for me. I think Thornley is a good player, but has been slightly over-hyped IMO, which is obviously no fault of his. |
