With regards to redvee I agree people from other clubs do get a hard time but in mitigation I think that’s because we’ve had so many idiots coming on purely to wind folk up in the past. Incidentally we’ve had about 50 new users from the Warrington area in the last fortnight haha.

Just to put all the lies and misinformation to bed and stop yet another thread derailing, the only reason people are banned / warned / have posts deleted from this forum is because they breach the AUP. If you don't know it, it's in the help drop down menu at the top of this page.

I've had a look and in the last 4 - 5 years, ONE user has been banned from this board. Hardly the actions of the Third Reich.

Those that whinge and bellyache about the mod process (which is against the AUP) and invoke Godwins Law are the people who continually break the AUP they signed up to when joining the site.

Haha yes because every team to ever have a player sent off has gone on to lose the game haven’t they? I recall listing 6 or 7 examples in the 2 seasons prior to 2014 where teams had men sent off and still won.

You also conveniently forgot that you were beaten by a team with a prop at centre, a centre on the wing, a 2nd rower and a full back in the halves, a winger at full back......

1 - our performances are getting more consistent and improved especially defensively.
2 - st Helen's are not "All that" (Phil Clarke's comments that they're better than the 06 side is laughable!) And until they win a few big ones theres always that bit of doubt in their minds and hope in ours.

I agree on the doubts over us in big games. I think we are comfortably the best team in the league on ability alone but we need to do it when it matters of course.

On Wigan, there’s no doubting the form is good in terms of results. However how do you think you’re actually playing? I’ve watched you a few times scrape wins against poor sides but I’m yet to see you play and be really impressed/worried. Have you had many stand out performances do you think?

Said today, we weren't as bad as the league table had us after say 12/14 games

Were not as good as the table makes us look after 28 games

Early season we would play well for 25mins and hardly get anything for it then poor for 10/15 at which point we ship in 18/20points.
Now were defending them bad patches far better and then when we get 15/20 mins of good play were profiting from it.

Difference is I think though is Belief.
HKR away was a big boost, winning a tight one.
Weve won a couple more including Hull away without really playing well.
Just doing whatever it takes to get the result.

And that's something Saints are going to have to deal with.

A saints fan who retired last year came into work about 3/4 weeks ago.
The previous year I said that if Roby had played 30plus games by end of year they wouldn't win it, you didn't.

And I said this time that how you cope with in reality 1 cup final (challenge cup) over a a 10 week period before the play off semii final will be really difficult.
Because in that 10 week period (3/4 weeks before cup final when league was sewn up) and 4/5 weeks after when no games "Really Mattered" is a very difficult thing to manoeuvre.

In 2010 we lost to Leeds in 1st play off game after we had basically sewn league up 4 weeks earlier. I bumped into Simon collinson the then chief exec who had just spoken to Maguire and he said it was exactly what the team needed as they had coasted and got too comfortable in the 3/4 weeks previous.

Cup final apart (which they didn't with at all well) Saints will have been in that situation for about 10 weeks, nearly 3 months.
And how to condition yourselves back Into must win mode isnt easy when you've been pretty much coasting for 3months.

We won’t win it playing as we are but have we got more in the tank? I’d say we probably have and that still may not be enough but we’ve certainly got form for turning up when it matters. I know which team would have more to lose and be more nervous should Wigan and Saints meet again this season.

I don’t buy the “more to lose” thing. Wigan fans are talking like anything is a bonus now but you’re still the reigning champions. You’ve therefore got your super league title to lose. So I don’t buy into this argument from some Wigan fans that you’ve somehow already overachieved this season and you’ve done well just to make the playoffs. Yes you started slowly but nobody bar Saints has been consistent so you’ve hardly had to hit amazing heights to climb the table.

As for being nervous, if we meet again I’ll be no more of less nervous than any other Saints v Wigan final I’ve been to. Is there more pressure on us to deliver something after the dominance we’ve had in the league? Yes. But if we play to our potential then it’s highly likely we’d win, so in that sense I’d still be confident.

You’re right though that Wigan have proven they can do it when it counts so I wouldn’t pick you as a GF opponent given the choice, I don’t mind admitting that.
