Saints may have been ordinary against 12 men, but its hardly a surprise without a creative player on the field.
Every team in SL will at some point be aggressive in their approach to certain games, but the Goons got what they deserved yesterday having got away with it for the past few seasons..... whether it be cannonball tackles, late shoulder charges, high shots, or just punching a man already incapacitated on the ground.
Flower will be held to account for his actions by the RL and cop a ban. I'm guessing Wane won't be for his admission through his own words of the tactics he employs.'"
check out the cannonball tackle Stains did in the 2nd half... the best team lost yesterday and please check Wanes credentials for the last 10 years and post an educated comment

I'm not questioning Wanes last 10 years. I don't think anyone on this thread has ? I'm just repeating what he's said this week about the way he coaches his team.
And yes, I agree with you about the better team on the night losing. But that's hardly a surprise against a team without a recognised halfback on the pitch for 78 minutes of the game.
While your chomping on those sour grapes re-direct the bitterness to Wane & Flower. They are the reason Wigan lost.

yet with 2 quality half backs you could only muster one try, despite playing "amazing", i would be disappointed had my team, despite being a man short could only create one try despite having 2 quality half backs compared to their ageing full back/2nd rower combination.
playing "amazing" does not win you trophies, scoring tries does, and the team with no half backs or creative players scored more than your lot.

Sorry but simple is incorrect, please don’t try to tell me that you haven’t watched a game in sport and seen the better side lose?

Too early for mine. He's got the size and pace we need in players to have any chance whatsoever against the Aussies but he's been out of the game for 3 seasons and hasn't even had a proper RL pre season. That said, he's a quality player and I guess the forthcoming series will determine whether it's the right decision or not. Obviously McNamara thinks he's worth the gamble. Personally I would have thought there were better options given the timing.

| For all the people talking about 'Thug rugby' etc. please do us all a favour and go get a life. What Flower did was unacceptable. What Westwood did in last seasons final was unacceptable. What Sinfield did in headbutting Dorn was unacceptable. I could go on, not only from this season or last, but throughout rugby league history and across all clubs. Could someone please go through the other16 players who took the field yesterday and point out the 'thugs' or indeed an further 'thuggish behaviour' from the rest of the match. And before you do, also take a moment to compare and contrast with your own teams. You'll find NO team is whiter than white. Get off your high horses. This was one man's indiscretion and nothing more.

| Can any of you RL experts explain to me why cockney lad was allowed to pull Sarginson away when he was attempting to stop Soliola scoring? Looked pretty blatant to me.

| Quote ="Phuzzy"With all due respect mate, you're talking rubbish. If you're going to use ONE game to justify your comments, at least make it one where it wasn't 12 v13 and preferably not one half a dozen games back into Tomkins return. Why not try the 2011 Challenge cup final for Tomkins perhaps and maybe the whole of last season for Bateman when he virtually carried the Bradford pack single handedly and won young player of the year. In fact take practically any game for us this season too. I'd start with Good Friday where he consistently ripped you a new one playing out of position!'"
You paid a massive fee for Bateman people suggesting he was the next Jamie Peacock etc... his done nothing but disappoint me every time ive seen him play and last night was no different. Luke Thompson for example totally outplayed the lad.
As for Joel Tomkins his done absolutely nothing since his return to Rugby League. Absolutely shocking decision from Mcnamara to include him in the England squad. I can only guess his there to keep Sam happy.

| I'm at a loss with Wane and the 'hatred' talk in the match build up. I don't hate Wigan or their fans as some are friends. I think Wane needs to think before he speeks.

| Quote ="Judder Man"Going down to 12 men didn,t effect the structure of the team though they just had to put in extra effort to put in for the lost man. For Saints they lost there one and only playmaker and had to make 4 positional changes dissrupting whatever game plan they had up to half time.
Saints also lost a rotation player off the bench so it was 16 v 16.
It was a great victory under exceptional circumstances, it was a victory for rugby league against the[size=150 MONGRELISM of THUGBY[/size.'"

| Nice of all the Saints supporters to take the trouble to line up and wave the Wigan coaches off, never seen the softie Wigginers do that, perhaps it's time they brassed up a bit instead of all this rise above it tripe.

| Let's play hypotheticals - let's say Saints go into the game on Saturday with Walsh, Lomax and Wilkin all fit, while Wigan go in with Smith, O'Loughlin and Bowen all injured with whoever playing in their place instead. And then let's say 2 minutes into the game Amor gets sent off for taking Green permanently out of the game with a ehouse cheapshot. Question: with 13 (+3) Pies playing 12 (+4) Saints for 78 minutes in that situation, [ido Wigan have any chance of winning?[/i Of [icourse[/i not - you'd have gotten mullered, man advantage or otherwise. So less of the "best team lost" cobblers and playing the "if" game that some of you are indulging yourselves in if you please.
Saints overcame frightening odds to win an unbelievable and incredibly unlikely backs-to-the-wall victory no matter what kind of gloss or amelioration you want to put on it. We suffered from infinitely way more adversity both before and during the game than you did. We were bitty and scrappy and lacked organisation and composure during the game but should have been a whole lot worse off under the circumstances. And we still won anyway.

Tell me about it - it's not easy having mirrors in your house when you're as beautiful as I am, believe me. I have to cover them all up in the morning so I can go to work instead of staring at myself all day. It's a genuine problem and I'd appreciate a little sensitivity about it if you don't mind.

Thankfully we still have Leeds, the most upstanding, gentlemanly club in the history of organised sports ...
Didnt a judge once say of two Leeds players "Each of you brought disgrace on the game of rugby league, on your clubs and most of all on yourselves" ... I guess our reputation is about as low as that ...

No problem Mr. Wellens. With an issue that big, you deserve some space to get yourself right.
Good luck.

Glad we've got that sorted. As it goes I think we'd have mullered you with a man advantage no matter who the personel. Haven't you lot been telling us all season that it doesn't seem to matter who wears the jerseys as our systems ensure we play exactly the same way? Without the three players you mentioned we'd have had Bateman to start and probably Scott Taylor on the bench and probably Hampshire to replace Bowen (many would say that was an improvement anyway!) By the way, just to keep the analogy even, McIlorum would have been playing too. So that's Taylor, Hamphire, McIlorum and 1 other player (Goulding or another forward) in and O'loughlin, Bowen and Smith out. With a man advantage for practically the full game that side would have caned you!
