Heard a load of people slagging him off for no reason behind me in the first half. Think it made me cheer that bit louder when he scored. Hope he gets more games at , looks like given a bit more room he could become a go to player to break down tough defences!

He won't have a tougher game than that. My only concern is could he back it up on Friday? He looked out on his feet towards the end.

With not being able to go out on duel reg and only 5 games under his belt it was pretty obvious he was lacking in match fitness at the end.
That will only come with more time on the pitch.

Played very well for someone who is unable to have any games outside the first team. Give him games and he will be a good player.

He really took his chance last night. I'd be surprised if he is able to back up on Friday but should be back in for the game after.

He was a real handful tonight and in a team that ALL performed well, he was outstanding. He needs to be given an extended run in what is quite obviously his preferred position and I feel we'll see what he can really do. Shades of a certain Kevin Iro last night and that's never a bad thing!

Good game indeed from Gelling, proved he's a centre last night and that can only be good. Three players for two centre spots is the competition for places we need.
We may only have one centre for the Cas game. Don't know what the problem was for Thornley, Goulding had bandages on his thigh and head at the end so he may not be fit.
Gelling looks like he'll keep his place on Friday.

There will be a lot of people stewing after that performance, I'm sure they'll find another scapegoat. Andy Powell?

I have never blamed him for a loss. I judged him on performance in a wigan shirt. He had a good game last night, however I'm not getting too excited. Concentrate on your own opinion instead if making false allegations and making yourself look a childish tool.

Was slightly worried that a game in the centres without match practice could give everyone scapegoat fuel for Gelling, so to see him do so well was just a bonus. All he needs now is a long run in the centres, and let Thornley do the utility threequarter role. Hopefully if those 3 and the wingers are fit at the same time we can give Goulding some rest. He's very important to our attack imo (even more to our defence), but he looks like he needs some time off to get his body properly back to full health.

For me it was his best game yet, good to see him in the centre spot.

I told you, about 10 pages back, to judge him on his games in his preferred position. His best game in a Wigan shirt, in his natural position. I'm glad you can admit he played well though. How many good games will he have to have before you accept he is a good player?

Been quite impressed with him at centre. Lets hope he continues to prove me wrong.

I think many were waiting to see him in that position on a regular basis before bagging him. He is a big strong quick lad and seems to be settling after being played out of position, and injury.

As I said, I judged based on performance up to the time I posted, which, were being played on the wing. Since then, he's been impressive in the centres, I thought he struggled a bit last week, but at Warrington and last night, I thought he looked very classy with ball in hand. The thing thats letting him down at the minute is the fact he's got Richards outside him who doesn't seem to be contributing anything attacking wise, and when he's given good ball off Gelling he doesn't seem to have the confidence anymore to go for the corner.

He played well again last night but still has a few too many errors in his game. He is a very strong runner and causes his opposite number lots of problems.

Ian Thornley frustrates me. He is a big lad but in many ways is like Karl Pryce in that he doesn't seem to have natural aggression. His defence and decision making last night was poor. In the first half Charnley should have had a walk in from Hampshires flick to Thornley, all he had to do was give a simple pass.

On present form I think it will be Goulding and Gelling as centres.
