Cross has done a full pre-season as has Marsh, and neither has looked as out of depth as Gaz..thats why i would go with that although i expect MM to go with one of Hock or Faz, probably Hock..hope it pays off and we are back at our second home at last.

You don't think? He's a wide-running, ball-handling second-rower who literally oozes upper body strength almost designed for offloading. If Joel can play at being a centre, Willie Manu can be a centre.

| Well after tonight...
Negatives
1) Lima continues to contribute very little...
2) Cross & Lima both got smashed... though at least Lima managed to hang onto the ball when it happened.
3) Joel Tomkins is starting to me off with the penalties and knock ons...
Positives
1) Mossop & Coley both put in a good shift making yards and tackles.
2) Sam Tomkins is a genius

Exactly what I said to my mates - that was a tough 2nd half.
Glad we can relax for the weekend and wait for that lot to play on Sunday.

| Lima was exceptional in that second half. When others were losing the ball and their head, he was taking the ball up and using a bit of footwork to come out the other side of the collision. I was one of his biggest critics at the start of the year but he's bedded in now and showing his worth. Cross was very poor tonight, as was Farrell but I'm gonna put that down to trying too hard to make an impression in the face of fierce defence and also comeptition within the club.
I was wound up tonight watching the game, seeing us make mistake after mistake, Joel running the wrong lines, players tackling with the arms and general indiscipline but on the face of it and having had an hour, we got a great result tonight. Hull have thrown everything possible at us and come away with 0 competition points. We won and we should now simply move on and give us the best chance to prepare and win next week.

| I just don't understand how anybody can suggest Lima only contributes very little . He's got to be 1 of our best performers over the last few months . Some people just expect way too much imo .

To be fair its only been one person at the moment, surely he/she must have been joking though?

| I would just like to apologize to any fans who were on a bus going out of hull that some horrible children threw objects at. I hope they did no damage I was just so disgusted particularly as moments earlier I had waved to the people on the bus in friendly fashion and they all waved back!!icon_smile.gifyou have an amazing team and we just aren't good enough but for anyone to leave hull with that horrible impression saddens me. Well played tonight and good luck next week-by the way Sam Tomkins is truly fantasticicon_smile.gif

| Lima has improved massively over the course of the season. To be fair, I think Cross had a good game apart from the fumble when he got smashed. Was more disappointed by Farrell and Hock - i expect both of them to be dropped for the semi...

| Fwiw, I thought that Lima was good tonight. Seemed to run in the ball quite hard and got in a few tackles.
Joel Tomkins needs to keep his head a bit better though - went flying in to get a shot on Lauaki (after Lauaki had pushed him over in the previous drive/ptb) and missed, as well as a nasty shot on Horne early on (although Hull's lack of direction is infamous, so an early targeting of the halfbacks isn't a bad idea).
Pat Richards also stood out for me - good in the air and always returned the ball very strongly.
Bit of a dodgy feeling about Moa's injury though - issue with his knee after a 3rd man entered the tackle, and had a few words with Coley after being interchanged. Be interesting to see if anything happens about this.
For Hull, there were a few decent individuals but on the whole it was a disappointing performance. Willie Manu was brilliant as usual, Whiting, Briscoe and Moa were all decent too, but many others didn't do well. O'Meley uncharacteristically knocking on, Tickle missing many tackles, and we lost Westerman to injury before the game and he's been one of our players of the season.
Hull played crap for the vast majority of the game, though, and you could see the differences in the quality of the sides by how they kept their structure. Apart from the scrappy ending to the game, Wigan kept their line and structure brilliantly throughout the match. On the other hand, Hull lost it often and were all pulled into the middle of the pitch, leaving us exposed outwide.
The speed of Wigan's passing and movement of the ball was also impressive to see.
The referee was inconsistant and poor as per usual.

Good summary. I'd add Obst to your list of good 'uns, though, he was a constant threat.

| I think Lima got off to a slow start at Wigan this year but he's looked pretty good in the few games I've seem him over the last few month.
I think gaz hock looks awful at the moment, I know he's been out for two years and he's finding his feet again but he looks well off the pace. While he was banned I read on here how people was saying he's that big he can play frontrow now, well he does look bigger and looks alot worse for it.

I agree on both points.
Lima is improving.
Is Gaz Hock fit ? He looked to have a bit of flab around his waist which he never had before his 'saga'.
