Exactly.
I can't understand anybody that would want Edwards to get it ahead of Wane. Their both assistant coaches yet ones been in League for years and the other hasn't. Don't get me wrong the romantic in me wants to see Edwards coach us one day but if he got it now above Wane i'd feel bigtime for Shaun Wane who's showed us fantastic loyalty and passion.

That is a bit of myth. Most coaches see their contracts out unless they are booted out (and that doesn't happen often these days either). What Madge has done is the exception which is a big reason why there is no excuse for it IMO.

So he's run away before the brown stuff hits the fan? Not much confidence in his own ability has he? I really don't think he was scared of this happening at all.
Quote Yes Wigan head coach is a massive job but for an Aussie coaching in NRL is greater no matter how much we all wish it wasnt! If a coach gets sacked do the fans feel sorry for the guy that now has to go and find a job? No!! So why do some fans make out that its a crime to move clubs!!'"
Coaches do not get sacked under IL. Noble despite being dire at times was given his full contract to earn the right to another and was only let go when his contract was up. I think you will find any coach under IL will be accorded the same opportunity. It's clear he expected Madge to be here for at least three years. It is only fair the coach returns the commitment given to them and honour their side of the deal so the clubs plans are not upset.

Both Wane and Edwards are peas in the same pod. Both are born winners, they are loyal men who demand 100% loyalty and dedication because they don't and won't ever give anything less than that themselves. Although I'd say Edwards is more of a student of the game.
Both would be excellent head coaches at Wigan.

Has he used that as a reason yet? I've not read it if he has but then I have only just got back from Hull.
I can't understand people if they're suprised at him going back(not saying you are). He's an Australian coaching in superleague and has been offered the chance not only to go home but to go home and coach a huge club in the best league in the world. I liken it to an English football manager coaching in Germany or France and being offered the chance to go home and take over at a club like Liverpool. They're just not going to turn it down for various reasons.
Life goes on and we'll continue to grow under Wane.

| Whilst it is always disappointing to lose a good coach to another club we all knew that MM came to Wigan to get a chance as a head coach and that he would use his time at Wigan to further improve his reputation as an up and coming coach to help him get a head coach position in his native Australia. He has now managed to get that position on the back of helping to improve the culture at Wigan and guiding us to a first championship in 12 years in just his first season in charge. I wish him well when he he goes at the end of the season and hope he does a good job at Souths. At least now everyone knows that this will be his last season and the players don't have that uncertainty distracting them for the rest of the campaign and MM won't have questions from the media about where he will be next year before and after every match.
As for who will replace him it may be a case of Shaun Wane stepping up earlier than originally expected or us getting another head coach with Wane continuing to serve as assistant for a couple of seasons. However it pans out I am sure that Ian Lenegan will not rush the decision and will appoint the right man for the job and the club. He spent a lot of time doing due diligence and getting opinions from top coaches before appointing MM and I am certain he will do the same again and that we will have a coach from 2012 that will help the club to keep going in the right direction.

| My question and it may have been asked before so apologies if it has. The question is will the players perform for MM this season and try to deliver, lets face it in the first week of the season we were so far ahead of everyone (even if we drew) in technique and ability to score with flowing movements that we all thought we were in for a good run.
Obviously as most people know and not just in the last 10 days that MM was wanted, however it was way behind Wayne Bennett for South Sidney but when WB decided to go to Newcastle on his $6 - 8m contract the writing was on the wall.
I am very disappointed as a Wigan fan to lose MM but it is now for the Management and Players to show us that last season was not a flash in the pan. If they fail to deliver it may be that many fans lose some respect for the players, basically we know they can deliver when they want (with hard work, method and what they all must have ability to be at Wigan) the main thing here is they must be prepared to commit and work harder than the others, something that we think happened last year but not in previous years.
Will they want to do it or will they coast who knows??????????????/

| They will imo.
Regardless of Maguire leaving these players will get their heads right and put in a huge dig because they're professionals and champions.
We should announce that Wanes taking over as coach for next season asap aswell so everyone knows where they stand.

No coach (or player) is ever employed for an indefinite period, if they were then contracts would not have an end date specified. Like in any other profession either party can choose to leave/terminate employment before that date is reached. '"
I think you will find most people who work on fixed short term (and 3 years is short term) contracts see them out.
Quote When approached by Wigan MM was an assistant coach who although highly rated had not been able to secure a head coach position. He would have wanted a head coach position in Aus then (he just wasn't being offered one) and IL would not have been naive enough to think that such ambitions would evaporate once he set foot on UK soil. '"
It's pretty clear IL wasn't expecting him to leave early.
Quote Just because somebody hopes to progress their career in the future does not mean they won't be committed to their current job. The improvement he helped produce in our squad last season is evidence of his commitment to do the job well. Achieving one of your career goals does not make you disloyal.'"
Depends on how you go about achieving it and who you shaft on the way.

Why would it be the players fault and not MM's? He's the one who has thrown the spanner in the works. Put another way if things do not go as well this season MM will be an easy target and will be accused of being distracted and concerned with what is going on at South's ready for 2012.

I reckon he was talking as soon as we won the match at Old Trafford. That is very unprofessional of Maguire. Very soon, people will talk about Maguire, if at all, as we do with Trent Barrett. Trent who ?

| Madge will have given us 2 years service, at least 2 trophies (and possibly more this season), he has changed the culture of the club, he has developed the squad for the future, he has got the best fitness and conditioning setup in SL. Give the guy a break he has worked wonders in his time here.

Don't be an idiot and start making up things that simply aren't true.
Who was he talking 2 after the GF? It certainly wasn't Souths as they were moving heaven and earth to sign Bennett.
As for Wigan fans forgetting him all I can say is narrow minded ones like yourself may try to ruin his legacy but i'll always respect Madge for how he's revolutionised the club. We'll win the GF this season and Madge will go down as one of our best ever coaches.

This was more of the Bradford's chairman pushing Noble through the door than Noble breaking his contract. That was the rumor around as soon as the rumors started after Milward got the boot. He more or less confirmed this on Carney's programme last week.
