I seem to remember OT was empty at the Saints end when Wigan lifted the SL trophy in October 2010

| The 'bridge' was a nightmare tonight.
Hope they build another one soon!
Actually felt sorry for some people, there was an elderly couple in front of me that were really struggling to stay on their feet in the mud and with people pushing in front of them.

| I can't believe other fans expect wigan fans to stay for 15 mins after the game to watch the other team lift the trophy, nobody else does, but because its wigan....
I did but I can see why others wouldn't.
There was no Wigan walk tonight....

Who? Danny McGuire? He's out already isn't he, courtesy of the Rugby Gods?
Or did you mean Maguire, the Wigan coach?
Mind you, even Sky Sports managed to get his name wrong on one of those pre-game captions, so maybe we can let you off!

But surely RG, we all go to the game to watch our team play RL , not to beat the traffic.
If they want to beat the traffic then get up at 6am on a Sunday morning and they can then drive around Wigan for an hour in traffic free bliss.
No RL club gets Soccer type attendances so leaving early to beat the traffic is a pretty poor excuse. Most RL fans support the team of the town they live in (apart from Saints fans of whom a notable number live and work in Warrington) so getting home for anybody is not a real problem.

The people I refer to live in Lancaster, that's why they always leave about five minutes early. They are also in their seventies.
As I have said the DW isn't the easiest place to get away from on match days. HTH.

| I never understand this "beating the traffic" nonsense... I park on the car park right outside the ground and its not that bad getting out. Police are usually on the traffic lights letting everyone out so it keeps flowing

| There was no Wigan walk on Sunday night, in fact there is no such thing as the Wigan walk. As i have explained before on here, all clubs have at least 10% of the crowd that leaves before the end of the game, for whatever reason. 10% of a Wigan crowd looks more dramatic than 10% of the small crowds other teams get.

Totally agree with your point .... wouldn't get too upset though ..... the simple fact is if Wigan fans stayed for a couple of hours after each game the other fans would try to find some other issue with Wigan.
Big clubs are always envied by the smaller clubs .... just look at the amount of posts from Warrington fans on the Wigan site.

We went to the bridge, saw it and decided to walk down the towpath instead to the Seven Stars.

| I wonder what all fans of all clubs that leave early have to do that's so important, what's the rush to get home ?
People wouldn't leave the cinema 10-15 mins before the end or go ten pin bowling and not bother with the last couple of frames.
I don't know about other people but i just love being at the game, and i feel almost compelled to stay to the end to show my appreciation for the people who have entertained me, including the opposite team.
I'll get home eventually anyway and probably do bugger all when i'm there.

I never leave a game early but I've never left a cinema when there's 20,000 people trying to leave at the same time either, so completely ridiculous points. Last night the game finished at 9 oclock on a Sunday and those with a bit of a drive wouldnt have wanted to stay to watch the Aussies get the trophy which is fair enough.

| TBH I have never understood why we find it necessary to debate this point. It happens at all sporting functions and if people who are as dim as Hemmings find some delight in pointing it out then more fool them. Pity they can't find anything better to talk about particularly when some of them can't raise a decent crowd on a nice day.

The 'ridiculous point' is why pay for something and not see it out to the end just to get gone early?
I would understand leaving at the whistle but if you'd scored at any point in the last ten mins you could have won the game? Why pay and then leave when the tension is at its highest (personally for me the best bit) ?
Similar to a film, why go at the bit that explains the other previous 90 mins?
Don't get me wrong this is not a dig at wigan but all fans of all sport that leave early.

Because when the game is gone with 5 mins to go Bruce Willis isnt going to come on and say he is a ghost. When there is a point in a game and its still anyones game you dont see many going - and those you do will have genuine reasons believe me. But when the game is gone and you already know who's won people get off early to beat the traffic, catch the last bus, catch the last train etc. Its just a way of life. Comparing it to going the the cinema is just ridiculous.

Paying for entertainment
Leaving at potential best bit
I'm not on about a lost cause, i get that. I'm on about games like last night.
I'm not getting high and mighty about it, i'm saying i don't understand it. People can do what they want for me.

| All this rubbish about the "Wigan Walk" YOU need a large crowd to notice people leaving early!
There's a good possibility that 90% of people commenting on this topic have never been to a game at Wigan and wouldn't know the difficulties involved in getting away from the ground after the game.
and for the record i prefer to stay and applaud the team after the game, and i have no problem with some people wishing or NEEDING to leave early.

Do you know legendary urban myth that there are literally hundreds of Wiganers who don't know that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's dad.
Only once have I left a cinema early.
"Pret-a-porter" back in the early 90's.
Fooking gash. I wasn't the only one either.

I presume some like me don't live in Wigan and need to catch a train out of Wigan and then a bus home. Luckily I can stay till the end of matches but I guess there are those who have to get out a few mins before the end.
