| We should start to call Karl Pryce "the Cat" - he seems to have as many lives.

Doubt it.
I am not comparing the players but when Pat Richards plucks a ball out of mid air and falls over the line it deemed amazing.
When Pryce does the same it is because he is a lazy get who was probably going to fall over anyway.

| We have just seen the benefit already of his signing in that we can now confidently allow one of our junior outside backs a seasons first team development without leaving the squad with less depth.
Pryce provides significant cover freeing up other players to progress their careers for the benefit of the club long term, without damaging the squad short term.
Fantastic planning, and strategy, of course Dave O will have had a better plan to progress the lads careers without signing Pryce.

A serious question.
How many 60 yarders did Goulding score?
That's not having a go at Goulding.
But then again you were the one who thought Feka was better than Fielden.
Says it all really.

So it just goes to show other SL clubs were interested in him, and were prepared to offer him a greater salary than ourselves. So credit to Karl for not taking the easy option and signing for them. For me it say's a lot about him if he's prepared to stay and fight for a place at Wigan when "easier options" were available.

It says a great deal about him, as does the fact that a lot of the lads really like him, even though he's portrayed by a group of fans as 'lazy' etc........

| Funny that the only official word Pryce has signed a new deal is buried in the squad number announcement.......
Quote Both Deacon and Karl Pryce agreed new one-year contracts with the Warriors last week'"
Whereas other players signing new deals get their own club statement, lets take for example the other player who signed a new deal last week...........
Quote Wigan Warriors are delighted to announce that Scrum Half, Paul Deacon, has signed a new one-year playing contract for 2011..............'"
You'd almost think the club were embarrassed by it.

Not a very good one by you or them then.
Everyone knows he's signed, not putting a proper statement out isn't going to stop the arguments either way. Neither does it send out a particularly good message to Pryce either.

Pryce is a member of the first team squad, just like the others I mentioned, and played in the team this year.

| Can't believe we've re-signed him. I'd prefer we gave one of the many academy youngsters a chance ahead of Pryce. I expect another year of underwhelming performances and heated debate.
He was lucky to being playing outside experienced centres in Carmont and Gleeson otherwise I fear he would have been exposed defensively many times - and he certainly wouldn't have scored as many tries.
In three years he hasn't broken tackles, scored long distance efforts, run the ball back aggressively or made breaks to put other players through. If not that; then what are wingers supposed to do? He's not very quick for a winger and he doesn't use his physicality. His contribution to the team is to score tries that any of the academy prospects would have scored.
He's had three years, been plagued with injuries and has hardly been a game breaker when he has played. Considering how other players have not been retained; it is puzzling that Pryce has - and given IL's comments about Pryce being "the most talented rugby players I've ever seen" it's easy to see why people think that this signing is more about the chairman and less about the coach - especially considering the coach's work ethic and how disinterested Pryce looks when he plays. The idea of keeping so injury prone a player as "cover" is also highly dubious.
He's here for another year now - so I will support him as I do all the Wigan team; however I will still be filled with dread whenever he has to make a one-on-one tackle and filled with resignation when he is faced with a one-on-one in attack.

| Pryce conceded fewer tries than any other Wigan winger last season, the one thing he isn't is a poor defender.

Just because we have re signed Pryce doesnt mean an academy player wont get a chance before him. As has been said many times now by our coaches " if you are performing then you will get your chance". The same would apply with or without Pryce

Just out of interest, when and where did he say that?
I'd be interested to know, but I find it hard to believe he would describe Pryce as "the most talented rugby players he'd ever seen".
