| Quote ="inside_man"Not sure why he's put that up. Similar tackles, Fielden has missed less, but just doesn't take the ball in as much (but lets be honest, who does).
Can someone who can be bothered work out the metres per carry, looks pretty close to me.
[size=50P.S. in no way am I saying Fielden is as good as Graham, just before the trolls come.[/size'"
Here you go:
James Graham - ~ 6.85 metres/carry
Stuart Fielden - ~ 7.09 metres/carry

| Fielden and Coley both need to be signed up. They have both played a big part in our success so far this season.
Fielden is superb for the way we play because he is a tackling machine and with us commiting so many men to every tackle he has done the work that not many other players could shoulder imo. This is a side of the game which isnt noticed by many people because he gets called far too often. He has had a couple of stinkers with the ball in hand imo but on one of them he was targetted and didnt really have any back up against a big pack. Coley got sent off for an idiotic tackle and probably cost us any chance against Wire so he isnt exactly faultless.

Cheers fella.
Surely those stats show how good Fielden could be in a good pack, take the pressure of his shoulders and surely those stats will improve.

Graham also often acts as a ball player in the line, with short passes rather than drives, which I assume would affect this stat?

Don't get me wrong, in no way am I saying Fielden is better than Graham, i'd have Graham in the team ahead of Fielden every day of the week, but I was just making a point that the stats show Fielden is still a good prop.
I feel Graham passes the ball a bit too often now, when he started to do it it often caught defences off guard but now he seems to do it on a regular basis that its often planned for.

Fielden makes more metres per carry then Graham does.
I'm not saying he's as good but he's a fine prop forward still and would be a big loss imo. Graham has an unbelievable engine and he makes all his yards on sheer volume of carries which doesn't make him any less impressive.

Another interesting point from those stats are Fieldens tackles/missed tackles/marker tackles and tackle busts which are far more impressive than Grahams, but don't seem to get recognised.

| If Fielden does go i do think we would need to replace him and if Coley goes aswell it would leave us seriously short in the pack. Lima, Prescott, O Carroll, Davies and a bulked up Mossop and returning Hock is far from a contenders front row with McIlloram and Tommy.

In the space of just over an hour he has gone from us signing Luke Burgess and LMS to James Graham and Sam Burgess.
I've just sussed him out. It's Maurice Lindsay.

So you know what our 17 is for next season already?
You obviously know nothing if you think our coach picks players simply because of where they come from.

Souths man of the match on a weekly basis by all accounts and is meant to be loving his time over there.
He'll come back to superleague when he's about 28/29 imo so only another 8 years or so to wait.

| This isn't intended to knock Fielden, I think he has been fantastic this year, however, we have a team full of good tacklers (Hansen, Joel, O'Loughlin, Coley) but we are lacking a prop who takes the ball up enough, that's where the emphasis should be for our squad in my opinion.

That's what Lima does. He's a Puletua-type ball-carrying prop. Hopefully he'll be as successful for us as Puletua has for Saints. Hoffman carries well too so we'll improve a lot in that department next year
Feka is still the best go-forward prop in the current squad

Why?
What are we missing?
Where are we losing out?
Top of the table, 6 points clear, loses by a small number of points......
There are only so many hitups going per game, where does it help us to load them more onto one player?

Fielden does take the ball in, but surely with a better a pack around him he wouldn't need to take it in more as Lima et al. will take that extra pressure off him.
