In the current cap system, it isnt possible to buy a team of superstars, you are required to produce a few of your own, which we have never had a problem doing, it was keeping them that was the problem, however that appears to have been sorted now, so the good will stay (sam) and the dross will still be allowed to leave (wild)

Don't disagree, but they're going to have to Win 14/15 of their last 19 to make Top 4 and in previous years Both Saints & Leeds Fans took great satisfaction in telling us being better throughout the season & finishing as High as possible gives you a better chance of Winning it.
As far as Some Leeds fans are concerned that doesn't now seem to matter! It's how you finish the season, which coincedentally was what some Wigan fans were saying in previous years & were laughed at by same said Leeds/Saints Fans!

I agree, given a similar amount of injuries etc at business end of season Leeds are a team you would want to avoid, Finishing as High as possible above them (And Saints) gives you a better chance to do that.

And were only saying that we're happy with the players we have that play & cover that position in Phelps/Roberts & Richards with Goulding/Ainscough to cover Pat/Roberts if they move to FB.

If Wire need a New FB, but I'm sure you don't with Richie & Riley your 1st picks for that position, then feel free to speculate on signing him.

Wigan Don't atm and given the nature of the Salary cap and timing being everything when players become available it was always a non-starter for Wigan.

You can see why Leeds fans would be confident though no mater where they finish because of them winning 3 in a row but your right the higher the better plus the top 4 get a second go.

I realise that bud, its just for years we have been told by anyone and everyone, that we should promote from within, and as soon as we start doing that we are told we are arrogant for not wanting to sign lee smith, who in my opinion, isnt that good, he was shown up in the internationals last season, and is living off one great grand final appearance (Leroy Rivet had a good final and look where he ended up). Granted i dont see him everyweek, so he may be the next Inglis.

But having a salary cap you cant have that talant in one team..with £1.6m to spend i'm very happy with the wigan team.

For what it's worth, I think you probably will take our scalp at some point this season. Strange things do happen. Even when we were crap, we had no problem taking yours.

But, as I've said many times, Wigan are not the finished article yet. I doubt they'll finish top this year. If truth be told, they haven't played particularly well in recent weeks, and their form needs to improve sharply.

But I genuinely believe that you lot now have a lot of lost ground to catch up on. You may do it, but it's a big ask. That said, don't keep going on about having masses of injuries. When we were facing relegation we had a monumental injury list for most of the first half of the year - and nobody outside Wigan gave a hoot. It's an unforgiving game. Keep talking about inujries and people will respond by saying it's an excuse - which, in an era when RL is all about having large and flexible squads, it basically is.

well the smith issue is all done and dusted now . we can move on to the next players who is or isnt signing for one club or another . if that makes sense
