No, it was due to his poor positioning.

| When was the last time we had a young local winger with raw pace and power like that? Exciting times ahead for Mr. Ainscough

I will take your word for it as i have yet to see it.
I do ask the question though did we continue with the move up 3 yards and hold defence tonight?
Did the markers get nailed (again) sounded so from the comentary.

We seemed to in part and at other times we were moving up, the trouble is our players weren't strong enough in the tackle to hold the Cas players on either occurance.
Our marker defence was okay, it was our defence outwide that was as weak as soggy Weetabix tonight.

So we were inconsistent in defence and our conditioning was not up to scratch.
In my opinion both Noble issues.

Basically those were the 2 issues.
Forshaw surely has to be to blame for some of the conditioning, he is over that area, am I naive to think that he sets up the conditioning programmes etc?

Who brought Forshaw to the club?
You have a budget to bring top quality specialist coaches to the club, is it coincidence that the best coach is Nobles mate?
Jobs for the boys.
Good coaches surround themselves with the best people.

| He looked in a lot of bother with his feet. He just about squeezed into the black boots to replace the orange ones. IIRC he had the orange ones at Warrington. Surely a proffesional club makes sure their players have decent footwear that fits/ provides traction?
He had a great debut, took his try superbly, and I don't give a stuff about him raising his arm to celebrate, was nice to see someone who had a bit of passion. Well done.
Let's hope for another debut next week in SL,

I agree with that, I would like to see IL bring in new coaches / conditioning staff to work with Noble. I have questions relating to our fitness but ill hold my hands up and admit I dont know enough to question him. That being said, I know enough to understand we aren't fit enough.

| Quote ="tivolipoo"Great to see a young player taking the oposition on without fear.
Don't think he'll play next week though, he could hardly walk in those yellow boots he had on ,he had to change them in the 2nd half. He must have blisters on blisters.
Brian Foley appeared to be giving him some stick about celebrating his try before he put the ball down. But I think it's great to see someone have faith in his own ability, something the rest of the team is lacking.'"
It wasn't Brian Foley, it was Phil Vievers, and quite rightly.
Ainscough should have passed the ball inside inthe first place, igan had two men inthe clear, then he baet the fullback on the touchline and had a free run to the posts.
What did he do, give the arm in the air and put the ball down 10 yards from the touchline instead of under the posts.
Goal kick missed, and still two points behind. He will get a well deserved bollocking, I just hope he learns from it.
Otherwise he had a great debut, as did Karl Pryce (considering he is only about 70% fit)

Goulding & Pryce will miss out from the team from today. Ainscough will keep his place.
Dropping him would be career suicide for Noble.

You're forgetting about his favourite adopted son (he who can do no wrong) who has served his two match ban.

I respect your opinion Brian but i love the fact he backed himself and stuck one finger up when scoring the try (metophorically).
Would Offiah have passed?
The lad saw the line and went for it and got over, i would rather a wing man back himslef and have confidence in his ability.
Form what i hear Tomkins should have passed also.

Offiah would have gone under the posts then celebrated. I just hope he learns. As a good St. Helens friend text me after the game, youthful exuberance.

I remember Offiah celebrating once and he got a rollocking. Never did it again though.
In that position though I think i'd have milked it like f*ck, but the lad will learn i'm sure.

Anyone remember Hanley 'taking the p*ss' as he was scoring the winner in the British Coal Nines at Central Park. He ran to the try line, then suddenly stopped and gave his ar$e a wiggle and was promptly caught five metres from the line, only after five seconds of tussling did he manage to dive over the line with the ball.....thus saving his embarrassment!

As a 18 year old on debut?
The lad backed himself something few of our players seem to do and had confidence, i would rather him back himslef and score and us lose for his long term career than see him put the ball inside and us win.
If Noble has a pop at him for backing himslef then the entire ethos of players with flair and confidence may as well die today.
Confidence is the key. Something non of our players currently have.
According the the radio Tomkins should have played the percentage and passed when he scored. I love the fact that they had the confidence to go for it.

I agree about backing yourself one on one, but not if you have men inside. It is a team game afterall.

| oh my god seriously get a grip, this lad has a fantastic debut does nothing wrong in his performance yet people still find one stupid little thing of pointing his finger in the air in celebration when he scored his brilliant individual try to moan about?
People on here would find something to moan about if they won a billion pounds on the lotto - its painful & embarrassing to read!!
